Congratulations on the explanations, they are very useful! I'm trying to start the tracking, but I get the message "Insufficient memory to allocate 23.6 GB". How do I free up memory in OpendTect 6.4?

Hi Karina, You can see your available vs. total memory in the bottom right corner of the OpendTect window: it will look something like 24.2/31.8 GB There is nothing that can be done manually to free up memory. The only place where you can manually reduce the amount of memory that will be used is in the Pre-load 3D Data window (see: doc.opendtect.org/6.6.0/doc/od_userdoc/Default.htm#survey/pre-load/preload_seismics.htm) You can choose to 'Load as...': Data can be optionally pre-loaded in another format (e.g. to reduce RAM usage). Everything else is automated as much as possible, with always room for improvement.

And I forgot to mention that you can restrict the Z-range on pre-loading so that you just cover the horizons you're tracking and don't load unnecessary data into memory.

@@opendtect9221 Thanks for the information, I will try to solve it that way!

How can I convert 3d horizons to 2d (picked in the seismic lines). Thank you!

Hi, Create from 3D... Generate 2D horizons from existing 3D horizons by right-clicking on 2D Horizon in the tree and selecting Create from 3D. A window pops up where you can designate the 3D horizon, the 2D data set and 2D line(s) where you want to create the new 2D horizon. This function allows for the 2D horizon to be created on one line, or on as many lines as a data set contains, all at once. You can find the UserDoc entry here: doc.opendtect.org/6.6.0/doc/od_userdoc/Default.htm#opendtect_trees_and_elements/horizon_2d.htm%3FTocPath%3D3%2520OpendTect%2520Trees%2520and%2520Elements%7C3.8%25202D%2520Horizon%7C_____0
