Because in the scene it very much appears to be a hat, and I've never seen Maguro Taniguchi dressed like that, or wearing a similar wig. Just like I've never seen Luffy wear a jacket like that too. Anyway, while there is no confirmation, it's up to what pleases the eye. But I don't deny the possibility that that's really what you said. What really made me believe in the possibility is that the anime itself features several classic references to other works, such as the scene with the electrifying punch that Akira gave the shark, undeniably similar to Boku no Hero.

A zombie is a person who is not living life. In a genre so commonly desaturated in color and focused on the loss of meaning (institutions, relationships, moral values, etc.), I appreciate that Zom 100 stages its response the way it does, literally bringing color to the screen. The fact he ticks off a bucket list in order to live more is a beautiful recontextualization. I'm genuinely proud of the mangaka and the staff working on this show. You guys did a wonderful job!

It can and does exist as an expression of the artist and the times. Interesting examples would be the popularity of gangster films during The Great Depression, Nuclear anxiety stories during the Cold war, even super hero films in reaction to 9/11 in America. This is a very common part of academic discussion. It's also an observation of trends by genre critics. I highly recommend Intro to Film Criticism by Tim Bywater and Thomas Sobchack if this interests you.

I feel like the OP only being changed to the current one as the crew has finally been fully assembled makes a lot of sense. This is one of, if not the most, impactful anime's I've seen. I saw it close to a year ago back when I was traveling across states for a sports competition, and it has cemented itself as apart of what was one of the happiest weeks of my life. It's story telling so beautifully traverses the line of comedy and sorrow, emotion and childishness, passion and desperation. It's all due to the music, art direction, and general quality. Akira's dream to chase his purest passions and desires is something I'm still trying to emulate now, and could even be considered my ultimate goal as well. I'm going to rewatch the anime this November, around when I did last year, and I'm going to keep doing this year after year, because that is the spot it holds in my heart.

I like how the studio went all out in making the zombies, they literally made no identical zombies! Like the salaryman but every zombie salaryman got different haircut or smthg. The same is also true for the school girls zombie that also have different haircuts. That's a lot of work they put there despite those being the mobs
