I’ve sold most Pokémon card for 5 years. Around 10,000 sales. I’d say if grading price remains similar PSA is way to go. The 10 premium is worth it. Sell as fast as possible for new sets. The bulk has decent value. You can even trade in the bulk at some companies for store credit and get more booster boxes. Also get a distributor and save when buying bulk boxes. Buying Japanese sets can make good sealed returns. I bought 50 boxes of Japanese Eevee heroes for $76 a box shipped from Japan and sold for 2.5x less than a year later. It’s gotta be the special sets not just regular releases

Oh no... I have a little experience with pokemon cards for myself. You can expect 12-16 "hits" per lost origin and common pikachu is not one of these. These range in value quite drastically. Full art = texture not a card with full card artwork. God packs are only in certain sets like vmax climax. So much nuance in cards. Fingers crossed for you sir. hear me out. i do sports cards and have found that lisiting the set, in variation form (card by card) in a 'you pick them' form is a good way to get rid of bulk instead of taking pennies on the dollar.

Plenty of variation listing videos on KZbin. You can find a set list on google. Just takes organizing the set. Which in chris’ case would take a while. Maybe 2-3 hours of work total. If it’s smaller scale about 20-30 minutes to create the variation listing

Chris…you really don’t get the math? 1 out of 720 does NOT mean you’ll get a guaranteed 1 (or more) in every 720 packs…it does not mean you were scammed; sadly it means you don’t understand mathematics? On the average you should get that many, you got zero…but the next buyer/sucker who purchases 720 packs might get 2 (make up for yours :) or who knows how many, but never guaranteed 1 in 720 packs. Just like in baseball, if someone’s “average” is .333…it doesn’t guarantee they’ll get at least one hit every 3 times at bat. If you need a PhD mathematician in the group…look me up?

@jaybird15962 жыл бұрын
I’m interested in this but I’m not seeing the math add up. $100/box, $22/graded card (min.), 20 boxes @ 10 graded/box = $6,400 expenses (unless you’re getting the cards cheaper or grading cheaper). Not including expense for sleeves/card loaders. Is this feasible to expect over a $6,400 return just to be in the profit?
@jaybird15962 жыл бұрын
@Meng Han Ah, I missed that breakdown in the video. I was under the impression that bulk grading was a bit more than that but I’m sure there’s workarounds. I think more expensive cards get charged more as well. The mystery template makes sense and I agree and think streams like that likely do well with the right following.

Math doesnt say that in 720 packs you should have hit it. It was a binomial distribution. If the chances are 1/720, the chances of getting at least 1 in 720 packs is the sum of the chances of getting 1, 2, 3 ... 720 in 720 tries (eg 1 or more) which is the same as 1 minus the chances of getting none. The chances of getting none is (719/720)^720 = 0.37 so the chances of you getting at least one was only 1-0.37 = 63%. Also thinking you should stop looking within a box once you find something good is the gamblers fallacy, assuming the company packages them randomly. You can know whether they package them randomly or not by finding out whether more than 1 or 0 ever come from a given box.
@pinoyj3162 жыл бұрын
I tried Pokemon too, Its just gambling with extra steps. Also Lost Origin was not the best Set to open IMO. I think the only way to resell cards is to buy peoples collections and find opportunities in Singles when someone under prices.
@tcgworldorder10002 жыл бұрын
You’re spreading unneeded fear saying the Pokémon seller scammed you because you didn’t pull the hardest card to pull out of the set. It’s not a given that you will ever pull that card, that’s why it’s called Pokémon “trading” card game. Pokémon wants you to open a box get what you get, including doubles and trade for what you need. I’ve got multiple distributors, sell on Whatnot and have been doing this for years, you are never guaranteed any pull!

@mjbrickscards96662 жыл бұрын
Oh man watching you cut the packs open makes me cringe. What if the Giratina got sliced? Also recommend you pre-grade your cards before sending them to PSA. You want to make damn sure your submissions will at least get a 9 or it likely won’t be worth the grading fees and shipping costs. Best of luck!
@TheBlackCat13372 жыл бұрын
even then, psa and the like will only grade it a 10 if they choose to assign it that number. its too much of a gamble for a small seller. Daily Refinement doesnt seem like the type to invest 10s of thousands on waiting a year to get his cards back then years holding for that one time sale at a profit in the end with nothing to show for it except maybe breaking even with the bulk and other pulls. It just doesnt feel like his method of making money. Its just easier right now than selling shoes for him and saves him on short term storage space. I personally think he should grade what he can and save rarest cards to pass down to his children.

You would have better odds of pulling good cards to grade in a set like "Evolving Skies", it has soooo many more desirable cards than most of the other modern sets. Sure it costs quite a bit more, but you have cards like Alternate Art Rayquaza Vmax or Umbreon Vmax which sell for $300-400 for ungraded copies and then a very big selection of cards that sell for $100-200 ungraded.

You’re right. And you’re wrong. You need a much MUCH larger sample size. Like 72,000 packs. You’ve never been a GPU or Bitcoin miner lol. I used to mine Ethereum and we call that kind of math “luck percentage”. Say it’s 1/100 odds and you opened 10 and found it, that’s 10% luck. If you opened 230 and found it, that’s 230% luck. I’ve mined 2 Ethereum blocks on my own when I was a miner and had 42% luck and 0.2% luck (REALLY LUCKY, i’m blessed). Unfortunately, math does work like that. I have one friend who found an Ethereum block with 520% luck. HE SHOULD HAVE HAD 5!!! But, your sample size isn’t big enough.
