11:24 Johnnys of this era and those kept under poor storage were known to have metal contamination that results in the metal becoming weak or even crumbling. That is why the body ripped like that when opening it. I've seen a couple that had bases that broke in half along air pockets. Mix up a dab of JB Weld and the car will be back together again. I have pieced together probably 20 cars now with JB Weld that had bodies crumble, mostly from the cheaper brands like Welly and Tai Cheong and Pioneer, Ertl, et al. Nothing you can do about metal fatigue. It is the company's fault for not making the coke pure enough (we're talking about metal here people!) or mixing properly to ensure no air pockets form when casting the slag.

I'm torn between opening stuff and keeping it in the package, I open 90% of my diecast but there's some I just can't bring myself to open...yet!😅. Cool seeing some old Johnnie's being set free!

I collect my cars how I receive them. If they are carded, they stay carded, if they are loose, they are loose. It's how I've always done it. I have equal amounts of totes of cards and cases of cars. Nobody is forcing you to open cars. I like the cars on the cards the same as holding a loose car.

Keeping stuff in the package is like marrying a woman, but not touching her until another dude comes and takes her from you.

I collected a lot of these Johnny lightning cars back in those years. I still have a lot open and carded. And yes they are turning into the condition you spoke about. I just don't have space for displaying.

Hey man, another good video as usual. I always open my cars because I’m legally blind so I can’t see them in the packages. I have to open them that way I can feel the body lines and everything. I really do appreciate how much you describe the vehicles and your videos it really help me imagine them in my head. Do you still paint models by any chance if so, let me know I would pay you for a request if you have time thanks

These years of Johnny Lightning when Playing Mantis owned the castings. They made some fine cars. These days are to plain and cost is more than I like to pay.

A lot of people hated Johnny in this period because the cars were sloppy, the scale was all over the place, and they were lauded as "kids toys".

Love the JLs, less available then hot wheels of same era, I open and race them all. Never understood why anyone keeps them in the package. Its why cars are worth nothing today that are 20 and 30 years old. Good for me i get new cars for a 1 to 3 bucks and i get to open them. The funny cars are decent racers.. You just never know with JL, lots of them can be rubber wheels too. Great Videos, love seeing the ones i don't have.

Cool JLs these were always a bit on the goofy side ...but thats why i love em. have to remember these are the dawn of modern johnny lightning ....they were some of the goofiest But only for awile. ive been trying to get the courage up to make a first video of my JL Holiday car collection .I have all 86 color chrome cars which were only made from 2000 to 2007 an by 07 the sets shrunk to 6 cars ...an the 2008 set was worse at Zero... an JL went belly up to be bought by Tomy toys . i Want to do a year by year on them as they are all still in package ..the world needs to see em lol. i see a same JL that ive also found in the fle market that you just opened ... i see im missing some surfboards lol . i love telling you my stories ...yesterday found a 1;18 scale ferrari F40 doors are off nice an grungy but basically nothing broke doors pop back on ...$5 Burago ..i stay far from large diecast but a high detail F40 WHAT ! ive been cleaning it slowly panel by panel ..with Meguiars wax..enjoying cleaning this thing like ive just found a real ferrari lol will look real cool next to my silver $10 Mclaren F1 1 18 found last summer ...

Using the same stock photo of the car for every button regardless of color was immensely idiotic. Make sure to write what color the car is on the back of the button
@DanielLopez-tb2fl8 ай бұрын
Color me wrong. Open all you want . Except for the Rug Doctor F/C which is in the correct black finish . I remember the correct finish . The blue Stardust WAS a correctly colored one. Back then Don Shumacher drove the lead yellow Cuda , hired guns drove the the red & blue ones . If you don't remember you need to do your homework. Otherwise you will ruin the few good ones . Dr. Boogie Lee Farnsworth

Thank you for the information on these cars, I admit I did not do my homework but by no means am I ruining anything. Cars are displayed nicely in my very large Johnny Lightning dragstrip cars collection. Video coming soon showing the update! Happy Hunting!
@MrWolfSnack8 ай бұрын
Opening a car does not "ruin it" and these Johnnys will never be valuable. There is no collector's market for them. There has to be a market for something to have value. PS: That Rug Doctor funny car in black is only worth $6 on card and you will struggle to get that much for it.

Nobody cares about the opinion of ignorant social media zoomers that will forever be renters, never own a house, and have zero furniture because you are always living under a fear of being evicted at any moment. We are collectors, not renters, and we do not live in a hospital waiting room.
