Here is a Sears Craftsman Bowie Stock Knife sold by Sears but most likely made by Camillus Cutlery in the 1980s. The blades are carbon steel and the handles are Delrin. Made in the USA.

Loved this. Very nostalgic for those of us who remember Sears in it’s heyday. What a sad demise. Craftsman, the name, lives on, but it will never be the same. Thanks for the memories!

That's a beauty of a knife! Thanks for sharing the long overdue releasing of the knife. If you can't see any pivot pins in the bolsters, chances are Schrade/Imperial made this knife using the hidden swinden key pivot pin system. Most of the early large Buck stockman 301's were made by Camillus and had though-the-bolster pins and a swedge on the clip blade, like yours.

Thanks Pezz for the info! I was unaware the bolster pins were specific to Camillus. Now I know what to look for when hunting for Camillus made knives 👍

Awesome find brother! My bet is on Camillius as well; they built a great knife. I buy every one that size that I come across. I think the last one was a Camillius built Remington bullet stockman from the 90’s.
@MrBarlow2 жыл бұрын
I’ve had my eye on the 80s and 90s Remington bullet knives for awhile. It seems they made a lot of those chubby trappers which I don’t prefer. A Barlow or stockman like you mentioned would be nice!

I have seen double liners on old John primbles . It may have to do with more spring tension on that side .
@gizmocarr30932 жыл бұрын
I think you are right about it being a Camillus made knife. It just needs a cleaning and polish to make it look and work perfect. Nice choice for an older knife for your collection, early Craftsman Tools were American made tools.

It's probably made by Imperial Schrade. Take a look at a Frontier Imperial 4432, it's a match; swedge and doudle liners.

Some Old Cutler knives have a similar swedge on the main clip blade. I have at least 2 with a main clip blade like your craftsman has.

I remember buying one of those. Lost it somewhere shortly after. It must not have been a big deal, and I don't think I held it in any high regard, as I only remember it now that you have posted this.

I agree with it being a Camillus, because of the clip point blade. The swage grind on the top and fingernail groove. I have many Buck 301’s and much prefer the Camillus built Bucks, because of those features.

Dude and I also have a old school pack of a Kershaw knife made in USA, who's made I don't know maybe 2000 year.

I've got this same knife and a old 8ot and a imperial frontier stockman the sane senior size, both the imperial frontier and the craftsman have 2 liners but not the 8ot, but they all have schrades swinden key system so no visual pins, so I think it's a schrade made knife .
@MrBarlow2 жыл бұрын
Could very well be a Schrade! Thanks for pointing that out. I looked at my Craftsman and I could not see the pins on the bolsters. The USA made large stockmans are so great

Camillus did make pocket knives for sear from around the early 1930's and they actually made better quality Knives for sears than they did fir the Camillus Brand,
@theprestriedge46572 жыл бұрын
Great find I wonder wye they double the liner.
@MrBarlow2 жыл бұрын
I wondered the same thing. I’m sure someone in the knife forums has an explanation
@Pezzeroni2 жыл бұрын
@@MrBarlow Camillus chose to use an extra liner (technically a spacer) to 'fine tune' the 'crinking' or bend in the blades so they don't rub when folded into the blade well.
