You know when me and Ben team up we are going to have a good time! With the Holidays in full swing we decided to hit the pavement and hand out some handy EDC tools from KNAFS. We were really interested in talking with people who do not EDC a pocket knife to see why they don't carry one regularly and if they would be interested in trying. We have some great conversations, get kicked out of a mall, and make some friends along the way. Hope you dig it!

Love pocket knives. I remember finding my first pocket knife in the dirt! It was a fishing pocket knife that had been lost and was rusted and dirty. My Dad and I restored it as a project together - and I've had it ever since. The pocket knife is a useful, basic tool that comes in handy. Nice to see how it has evolved.

Though I hid it from my parents, I carried a pocket knife at an early age, usually a cheap British army surplus "clasp knife" with can/bottle opener and marlin spike or a Swiss Army Knife. In the early 1960s an essential tool for a latch key kid.

What a neat thing to do! :D I'm from the SOUTH-south United States and was raised to always carry a pocketknife. And it's crazy to think how different of a world we live in now: At one time (at least in the south), school kids had not only pocketknives but would roll into the parking lot with a rear-window gunrack, all decked out. It was never seen as scary, though, because it was a very different time then. (Mental health being what it is TODAY... yes, that would have been alarming.)

I almost always carry a pocket knife on me. About 10 years ago I was working at a steak house and was opening boxes of meat to label and set in the fridge to thaw. One of the ladies that worked the counter walked over and got scared because I pulled out my knife to cut the tape on the box. She asked why I carry a weapon on me. Mind you this was a 3 inch blade folding knife so to me this was probably the smallest pocket knife I've ever carried. Also keep in mind I'm surrounded by 5-9 inch chef and butcher knives/cleavers on the walls. I understand that not everyone grows up around knives as tools but that still tickles my funny bone to this day.

I have always carried a pocket knife since my dad gave me a TL 29 when I was a kid. I eventually carried a three-bladed knife. But I grew tired of the bulky feel I always had in my pocket. So late in life I grew to like slim and thin knives with a thumb stud. You mentioned opening boxes. I worked in auto parts for 17 years. I always used my big bladed knife to slice open boxes. One day I sliced open a big box and inside was a folded vinyl covered pad for the back of a station wagon. My knife slit the pad the full length of one fold. After that I found a tiny box cutter that fit on a key chain. With that I could just cut the tape on a box, and never ever sliced what was in a box again.

"knife carrying community". I know what you mean, but it saddens me. I'm old enough to remember when men simply carried pocket knives--you had one from the moment you put pants on in the morning. Not because it was "manly", but because a knife is a tool (humanity's first manufactured tool) and grownups were expected to be able to do things.

I'd give him a "raised eyebrow" look, with a silent "Really?" because he KNEW that I always have three knives on me. A Victorinox Tinker, a Joe Pardue Utilitac II, (2), and a Leatherman. I've carried a pocket knife since I was about 10 years old and my parents gave me a Boy Scout knife for Christmas. It absolutely astounds me that there are people who DON'T carry a pocket knife.

In 1990 I got a job in an Irrigation Warehouse, selling and mostly shipping irrigation parts. I had carried small pocket knives before but to cut down cardboard boxes to "right size" the box for shipping an item, as well as for opening boxes of new inventory to put on the shelf, I got a larger pocket knife. I've carried a larger pocket knife ever since because I learned how incredibly handy it is on a weekly basis in the rest of my life as well. Then while I was an Assistant Scout Leader I learned having a serrated blade to be able to cut rope and saplings was also necessary. So since then I've had knives with 1/2 serrated blade. I am on my second, and last, Benchmade Knife, only because I can't imagine ever needing a different knife. This one is quality, and serves my needs perfectly.

I couldnt imagine leaving the house without my knife and olight i3t. Always have them in my edc. When I'm working on my property I also carry either my officers model 1911 or my j frame 357. My knife of choice is an Ontario RAT model 2.

He’s right. I’m either opening Amazon packages, Target boxes or Costco products and the occasional letter with mine. Or breaking down boxes to recycle them. 😂

I carry a Kershaw Leek on the daily basis. It doesn’t come in handy every day, but when I do need it, I am glad its there.

That is one well-designed, handly little knife, I carried one for years. Now if they'd make it out of something like Cruwear or Magnacut ...

I've always wanted to do this even though I did something similar at my old work. I bought a normal crooked river and used it at worked. Many of my co-workers were a bit nervous around the fact that I had a knife but relaxed about it after a while and even borrowed it from time to time. I ended up buying a lot of them CRKT Quids, Pilars and Kershaw Cinders.

This is really cool to see, living in Utah now, I recognize every location now. I've been carrying a pocket knife for eight years, mostly it was the Victorinox Spartan until TSA confiscated it from me. I carried a Opinel No.8 Carbone until I gave it to a friend who needed a knife. Now I don't carry anything but I do miss carrying one to open boxes and utility purposes.

That's awesome. If I did that, I wouldn't say I went and made content, I'd say I just went out there and had fun and everything else just fell together.

Another great video with you two. In life if someone I know says "I need a knife", I will give them one that I think will fit their needs. I love when they actually use them and it's even better when they become knife enthusiasts. It would be awesome if you could track some of these people down in a month to check in.

I sell knives at gun shows in NC and my business name is Deerfield Cutlery and the motto: Cutting Edge Tools for Everyday Life. I'm not promoting my business, just love the comment about knives being tools (in the video). That made me smile! 😀

EDC: Victorinox Waiter. It sits on my keychain so it is on my body all the time. I use it daily. For heavier tasks and outdoor stuff I have a Leatherman Wave and a Victorinox Climber.
