I try to edit with that in mind most of the time, but sometimes you just tire of all the editing and want to let it roll. And ironically, I've found those are sometimes the ones the algorithm picks up on. Not that it matters much these days. Algorithm hates my deplorable guts.

Hello again, B. Circa 1978, I built a fuzz box encapsulated in a Marvel milk powder tin can (empty!). I found the quite simple circuit diagram in a projects book, sent away for a slice of Veroboard and the components, built the thing and encased it into the shielding afforded by the aforementioned Marvel can. The results far exceeded my expectations. Very responsive. A couple of years later, I was working as a Junior Partner in a music shop/amp repair facility, under the guidance of Geoff Johnson, who, as you know, designed/developed and manufactured amps for Vox. Had one of these around 77...Actually , you plugged the unit into your guitar then to the amp, which Is the reason for this type switch...It didn't last long from the snatching and pulling....We were 13 years old...It was my first experience with ANY type pedal...and yes, I was in heaven with that sound....Not so much now

I had one around 81-82. I bought it new. The back is steel but has a black texture finish on the outside. I had a really cheap Strat copy and I used a male/male 1/4" and plugged it directly into the strat jack. :-)

I own a little muff fuzz. I've had it about 43 years now. Mine had no back cover either (funny). The other owner was probably to lazy to put the screws back on after battery change. I covered mine with a metal wall plate for a telephone jack - textured with silver finish. It was perfect in size to bend into shape. Great idea with the can man.

I mounted mine in an old Crybaby housing. I wired the gain control to the potentiometer in the wah & the on/off switch to the footswitch. Much more useful now.

Stick with them, as opposed to the Alnicos? and 2, I had an original Oxford in my '64 Deluxe (non reverb) that rotted out, but still have, and replaced with a Jensen C12K (Italy). Worth reconing the Oxford? or just leave the Jensen in it?

@@reminaya Yes. Recone the Oxford. It's not that expensive to do it, and a new recone will be just as durable as a brand new speaker. Once you break the new speaker in, it'll sound amazing, I'm sure of it.

Hay,I had one, I taped it to ma guitar strap with duct tape ran a short from my guitar to the muff another short to my head headphone (yes, I had the first headphone for guitars! Think walkman meets am radio) the batters ran out so fast but it sounded sooo badass it was worth it. Headphone replacement was very hard to come by Sony was the only one back then.

That's a great sounding fuzz circuit! I got a Deluxe Memory Man from that company that I bought back in the 70's that quit working. I had a guy try and fix it in the early 80's but he had no idea what the pedal was supposed to sound like. While he did get sound to come out, it's not what it used to be.

Haven't watched your channel in a minute. Was interested in this ehx Muff build, and more so when I found out it was the op amp version, the full op amp ehx pedal being used to great effect by Billy Corgan (when he was a paragon of respectability) in conjunction with a driven Marshall - a singing harmonic sound I have yet to recreate, but greatly desire, then again my Marshall is a PiaBox, and my Pumpkin Pie Muff is an ehx reissue). But, never minding all that, I actually commented to say, your daughter, my former daughter, that age, it is amazing. I can barely hear the piping voice of a girl that age without breaking into tears. Even at the time, my love for that tender age, and the purity of their spirit (even as they are trying on the modes of adult sin, as your little miss sassy daughter does here). If I can make a recommendation - if you have a simple stereo voice recorder, set it up inconspicuously for family gatherings, like at the dinner table, or road trips, or if there is just a quiet evening, i.e. no tv, shows, pads, phones, etc., a time when you are all together, talking. Don't let them know you are recording - recording so profoundly alters reality, and in particular, humans... I have never nailed a first take, I can jam a phrase at perfection for hours, the second I hit record, my fingers fall apart, I'm sure most know this phenomena. A video camera is even worse, people freeze up and go wide eyed, they just cannot be themselves. But a little Zoom stereo audio recorder, I used an H4N, that no one knows is running - you will capture your family members as they really are, and never will be again, as we're all so dynamic, but especially children, and especially at that age. You will capture the most delicate, intimate, and endearing revelations of their spirits. It is heart breaking. You may even capture very negative thinking or behavior, more than likely on your or your wife's part, which will be alarming, but it is an honest, if horrific, look in the mirror all people aspiring to grace and mercy need. I had done this, but lost 99% to a hard drive failure, which put me in a 6 month depression, losing my most valuable possessions, true images of my daughter as she grew and changed into new versions of herself. I have loved my daughter at every one of the hundred stages she reached, and I have also lost all of those daughters, they have all passed away to new personas. I morn their loss, even as I loved each new identity she took. This is my humble suggestion to you, and all the parents of young children who're crazy enough to read this long comment.

Nice job building that back. I was going to suggest painting it flat black, as I had a later version. It was still very similar. Still my favorite Fuzz tone was an OLD Jordan Boss Tone. Sounded great but it plugged into the guitar output jack. I've got the schematic for it. Such a shame it was discontinued, I know they're building them again, they cost the same as the did in 1980, $75. It might have lasted had they made it a pedal. Sounds great.

Great job at making the back of a muff-fuzz. @16:40, instead of using green beans can, tuna or cat food can, shorter, no need to cut, and no sharp edges. Other good cans of same size with different products too. Cheese dip for tortilla chips. And can that comes with blueberry muffin mix(I don’t think they have that internal can anymore).

I have an electro harmonics treble booster which I purchased used in the late 70s. The back is metal with a thin black vinyl covering glued on.. The device was actually plugged directly into the guitar so the knob was accessable. An odd arrangement but the device but popular in the day. The orange squeeze pedal was used in the same way.

@ 20:13 if you score the brass with a utility knife a few times, you can bend it back & forth for a clean break or bend it once for a straight bend.
