Judges are paid at higher tier events. The playmats and packs are given on top of payment for their work.

As a judge in canada we do get paid for events like regionals, and a judge box is also included depending on the event

Just got back into dueling this week. Had to start from scratch but channels like this made me miss the fun of new cards & deck strats. All my machines & zombies etc were given away back in 2014 BUT I just got the Zombie deck & Zombie horde deck and buying some more packs soon. Even looking for a LCS is new and fun again! Its absolutley terrible compared to other games. And thinking that konami doesnt give judges anything, sorry for that but, that is stupid. Then no one would do it. Judging is a lot of work and stress, and traveling to events costs money, no one would do that for free. Im really curios, why did you think judges get nothing? I really wanna know where that thought comes from. Is it just never thinking about it or is there an acctual reasoning?

Compared to other card games like Pokemon and MTG, Yugioh judges get barely anything. Judges are vital to the game and deserve compensation of some kind, even if it is a box.

I think the coolest thing about the judge box was how much product was obtained as compensation for an event. You think how some people work 9-5 and the tournament is on a Friday or over the weekend. It's not a bad value, especially when you consider the cost of the booster packs. You get to be involved in something you love and you didn't have to work extra hours or sacrifice in order to receive something legitimately cool. If, as some of the other comments have indicated, they pay the minimum wage for the city the event is located in, it's just icing on the cake.

Judges are actually paid money to judge, as they have to fill out payment forms/I-9 with a staffing agency (contracted with Konami) to judge at a YCS. They don't judge for free. Judges don't judge regionals for free either. It'll depend on how the OTS handles monetary payment, as it is not handled by Konami's Judge Program Manager.

I love Yu Gi Oh!! You’re channel is now my go to for my sealed product fix 😂. My friend is a judge. I was just talking about Triple Tatics Thrust with him and he said it’s one of the most powerful spell cards in the game right now! With all honesty, judge something else. Beeing a ygo judge is an absolute pain in the ass because konami doesnt know how to write cards texts. It is a shit ton of work to keep your knowledge up to standard, and the benefits for that arent worth it. All other tcg give you much more for your effort, while beeing less work. Also you dont have to deal with the competetive ygo community that is way too toxic.

These are neat! The box itself is really nice and usable for storage, and I'd love to have that Blue-Eyes coin. Also, it wasn't until recently I learned that Sour Scheduling - Red Vinegar Vamoose is related to Suship! That train is delivering the red vinegar mentioned in Shari's flavor text, used to make Shari Red! It's also an in-lore explanation for why Shari Red came that long after Shari.

I would love to become a judge eventually but I would need to spend a long time studying on interactions and things like that, I haven't been playing much recently since I've been so busy with college but I just got three crimson king structure decks and I am super excited to take it to locals. When I was down in my locals, the Side Deck café occasionally when they would be going to a YCS or something, they would get their judge boxes open up and put the packs in for players to buy so I haven’t officially opened up a solid box before, but I’ve opened up a few of the judge packs before. I used to judge back when it was Upper deck. SJC Tournaments. Never actually got my judge boxes from them. They would pay for the rooms and food and like 2 3 boxes buthtis what back in early 2000s. Sneak peeks were amazing.

It's pretty neat that in exchange for volunteering as a judge, you get a booster box worth of product, as well as a few neat little trinkets. I do think they could go a little farther to actually employ judges instead of using volunteers though, given the time commitment these people devote to the game and the hobby. Hi! I wanted to say that I think it's really nice to show how the judges are remunerated after an event! That's great to see official products that aren't on the market actually, and it reminds us that the judges always do a great job, and that they're very important! Sometimes players forget to thank them, that's sad. Anyway, great video, the box looks insane! I hope I'll win the giveaway (I've never won one, but at least I try 🥲), because I'm quite young (15) and cannot afford to buy the cards you opened in the box, like Thrust or Labrynth Big Welcome. When I used to judge a long time ago we used to get one full booster box of cards as payment for our time. Love to see that they are at least still doing that much for the judges even though I stopped judging. The coin though might convince me to try doing again that thing looks awesome!

regional and higher events do pay(usually minimum wage for the state the event is held in), as judges are viewed as independent contractors. The local level may be up to the store to decide if the judge is compensated

The packs in the box probably coincide with the last released set in the TCG. Unless they just stuff random packs in there but its more likely they put packs from the newest set in the box. So photon Hypernova would be 2/10/23 for those wondering
