Thanks helped me fix my Olympus Zuiko 12-60mm, no shop would touch it, and there was some fungus behind the lens.

That's excellent news, it is a pity that shops refuse to take jobs like this.

Thanks for these videos both informative and interesting. I don't suppose you know how to calibrate the focus on the Nikkor manual Internal focus(IF) lenses? I recently bought the manual nikkor 300mm f4.5 ED-IF but I can only assume it had been taken apart then put back together wrong. Infinity is off by about 1/4 of the throw and I can't get close to the minimum focus distance. I've adjusted some other lenses and helicoids before, but I just can't seem to get to it even after taking the lens groups out.
@diyextravaganza Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks, focus calibration is always a matter of getting the groups at the right distance. The way I proceed is to check which one is moving and how, and then start testing different positions with lens mounted on camera pointing far away in order to get infinity, with that you're ok. It is also a very tedious task. But hard to give you details without seeing the lens. Cheers.

Congratulations on the video. This was the only one I found talking about it. Is the 85mm canon lens glued in the same way? To remove the lens will you need to peel it off and glue it on? Is the glue used silicone?
@diyextravaganza10 ай бұрын
Hello, thanks. I don't know for the Canon 85mm, you'll need to open and take a look. For the glue, I use B7000, as in phones, but restrict yourself to the minimum amount you can use. Best.

What if the lens group is made of aluminium? I put it on the hot plate and heated up to around 150c, the glass elements rotate, but stll unable to take them out... Any tips?
@diyextravaganza Жыл бұрын
Well, when the block is in metal, that's another story. The only way I've found is machining using a lathe but it requires a lot of patience and the risk of failure is not negligible. The problem is that most of the time, the material is bend over the glass edge and needs removal. Sometimes it is tight fit and heating works. So, my suggestion is to check whether it is just tight fit or if the material is bended over the glass.

do i need to worry about the rotational alignment with the back lens when putting it back?

Maybe, make a mark for good measure. Best.

Hi I have a Sony Camera a6100 and it came with a 16-50 f/3.5 5.5 oss lens and I unscrewed the top piece while testing it and dropped the lens block with the lens piece inside and it cracked what is the little glass piece called inside. I keep looking up the model to replace the little glass piece and it won't appear it just shows me the lens itself.
@diyextravaganza11 ай бұрын
Hi, your description is vague, so difficult to tell you the exact answer. However, being able to buy specific lens elements is not something you normally do. The easiest option would be to find the same lens broken and recover the said part on the latter. Best

Thanks for that ! I have an Olympus 50mm/1.8 Auto-S with the front block that has some fungus. Not so well sealed, huh ?

@diyextravaganza Жыл бұрын
Hola, gracias a ti.
