For me Silver series are a perfect hybrid between mainlines and premiums, you get all the details for less and they'll still work on drift tracks. And some of them have metal bases, making them better than premiums for photography - tampos are way more accurate to the details despite being less wear resistant than the matrix dot style, plus they're much cheaper. You can always clear coat and wheel swap them if you're into customs, I'm planning to try that out.
@FDLV66Ай бұрын
Hi Lamley! Honestly I find you very hard with these series. Having a metal base is a real plus. It’s really reminiscent of the hotwheels of the time when the metal base was part of the norm. Also some new rim designs are pretty cool! Personally, I think it’s very good. The price remains correct.
@cherkencotvАй бұрын
Totally agree. As he said, he constantly forces himself to dislike them, perhaps because he is heavily invested in premiums and such. To me they are a great product, with a good pricing point, and I think some of them even offer more value for the money than premiums. I like them a lot.
@MaximusOverdriveАй бұрын
I know nobody wants to hear it, but these are better than premium. They're half the price, deco quality is undeniably sharper than the full premiums, and you still get some cool cars and card art for those who care. No real-riders, I know...if you really want them, swap them on. Plastic wheels don't bother me. Wish they had more variety though instead of being pigeonholed into these Silver specific ones.
@AlexGriebelАй бұрын
I'm not a fan of real rider tires to be honest. Tampos are good on the neon speeders.
@vansubagjaАй бұрын
I personally think the Silver-series is my favorite line-up from HW. Most of the time they had better details than the mainlines while still being cheaper than the premiums. If you pick the one with metal base, swap the wheel with customs, it'll be quite hard to differentiate them from premiums.
@resistive11Ай бұрын
I don’t know you could not like this series. They fit perfectly between basic and premium. Amazing decos for half the price of a premium
@manoman0Ай бұрын
Very true, slightly higher priced and usually only short of a metal base compared to the premiums. I like them but I have massively - MASSIVELY - downturned my buying of HW of any kind.
@bobbyjones2112Ай бұрын
If hot wheels were raised the price of a mainline to $1.50 and at least put the headlights and tail lights on every car. I’d be willing to pay that for sure!

i love this new sillver sieries. We get a bunch of castings that don't get regularly used in premium lines here with metal bases and the're great for customisers who don't want to spend 8$ on a full premium version if the're getting drilled anyways. keep the silver series showcases commin!
@StarvingDingo2246Ай бұрын
Thanks for showcasing these. I collect specific models, limited to space and budget, but often thought, "I wish this casting had front and rear details." The Silver series, so far, hits a sweet spot for me.
@sirlordozАй бұрын
what is not to get on the silver series? they have to back off on the tampos on the mainlines to keep the price down. having a middle line is perfect to give the more tamps we are used to with some newer more elaborate wheels. as for the ultra hots they always had some futuristic tampos on them. thats why they are cool cuz they are keeping a retro line alive
@choichi-m1zАй бұрын
All you shared today is to hit a price point for many collectors. I appreciate these.
@emilsr.5395Ай бұрын
As someone who doesn't have that much premium that can be found in local stores, absolutely dig these. Don't mind the lack of real riders, as all the new wheel types introduced in this new series is pretty great. The tampos are sharp, which is great to see while premium dot-matrix prints are lacking at best. Also very happy with the variation, from J-imports to Tubular Trucks. Of course, not every series will be a hit. For instance, the upcoming Salt flats racers do nothing for me personally, and the FnF repeats have been discussed to death. Also, wasn't happy how the chases were treated when the series started. In my opinion, when it comes to HW, chase should be a variation on an existing piece of a set, not a separate piece that is impossible to find at the end of the day. But these are very minor complaints for an overall very good introduction in the yearly HW cycle.

I like the Silver Series. In my opinion, you get better quality castings (most of the time) than Premiums. I'm not a fan of the dot matrix printing on the premiums. Plus, because the water slide tampos on most of the Silver Series castings are not clear coated like the premiums; you can remove what you don't like with a little brake cleaner and keep the details of the headlights and taillights. All you need is a wheel swap without drilling the body, and you have a clean looking casting that puts many Premiums to shame. For those that say most don't have a metal chassis, who cares. I just wheel swap, customize and put them into my case on my wall to display. The ones that look the best with wheel swaps and tampos removed are the Ultra Hot's because of the Spectra Flame paint. I wish I could show pics of some I've done.

These are not “decent”. These are very well done, well designed, well priced sets that renews my faith in Hot Wheels. They blow some of the recent Car Culture and Boulevard releases out of the water as they look sharper. And those new wheels are great. You don’t want to add them to your collection because of space constraints, that’s fine. We all have to make choices. But this whole video felt overly dismissive for no apparent reason, and I find that very disappointing.
@whenever-199iqАй бұрын
I agree completely. He likes, he doesnt like. doesnt know what he wants and also depressing to hear about a well done series. but thats him. Im here for the Hot Wheels.
@Car_Club.AnywhereАй бұрын
Never lost my faith in hotwheels that much, but these?! They just bring a certain specific need and want from both the mainlines and the premium. And the TAMPOS?! Why is nobody talking abt that? They're amazing!! Well done hotwheels 👏👏
@hellisioАй бұрын
@Civil_c1v1c we are talking about that. Championdjk has been championing the silver line since day one. Just because John Lambert is unimpressed doesn't mean others have not been supporters.
@Car_Club.AnywhereАй бұрын
@@hellisio I'm glad to hear that lol. Many people now diss hotwheels and their questionable prints and details, now that hotwheels responded with the silver line, it was a HIT! Stunners and even better quality from their mainlines and premiums!

The Ultra Hots remind me of my childhood collection in the early 90s. They have some appeal for me, depending on the casting.

Hello! I’m from the Philippines 🇵🇭. I also am somewhat on a fence with them. They’re basically souped up mainlines with premium prices. Although there are certain items that caught my eye (I got only a single Toyota Pickup but copped the entire 2024 hw speed graphics.), I really am not impressed with their design.

I will say that I completely see what you were saying about not feeling the "soul" on that Mustang. The Vintage Racing series in general was a complete letdown for me. I can't put my finger on why but none of the castings in Mix 1, none of the decos, nothing about them made me want to buy them. I also found almost nothing to appreciate really in Neon Speeders. That said though I would pick up all of the Tubular Trucks castings in a heartbeat. And I found several to really like in the Ultra Hots as well, so I don't think I'm down on the Silver series in general....just those couple collections. I don't mind paying a bit more to get something with more detailed deco and a slightly higher quality honestly. It just needs to be the right casting is all.

Guessing the Toyota 2000GT is the "chase" from the vintage race series as from my experience coming across it is the least in quantity while the shipments are heavy on the Maverick and 240Z followed by the Vette and Mustang. Also started to show up as pop-up aisle displays which really helps since the first batch or two of them I found were just fresh pegged at grocery stores.

agree silver series are perfect hybrid. some of the coloured real rider wheels on premium are awful btw and will date terribly. the gran turismo sets of the past are superb, the new one looks even better but two reasons i havent bought. 1. not seen in store, 2. already have multiple versions of the castings. i think for resellers the premium is always going to be better because higher margins can be made.

Love the silver series,great quality and not over expensive plus I prefer plastic tires over rubber any day. Vintage Race club 10/10 , Ultra hots 8/10,don't like the zamac Porsche,neon speeders 3/10,to many race models this time,the previous set was a lot better and tubular trucks 6/10,not a fan of lifted but the set is ok except the Power wagon,lose the bullbar on that one,it's the worst of the set.

There always has been a series in between mainline and premium. They just were not called anything other than what the set was called. I called it the intermediate line. As a collector I find it pointless to give it a name. Maybe it was done to gather more attention or make it easier for new collectors to understand the difference.

The silver series are great for wheel swappers. I have six spoke real riders on the Toyota with off road Toyo tires on it. It looks amazing. I'll find the blazer now and swap those wheels too. But otherwise the wheels are goofy on all of them. Not a fan of the ultra hots. Maybe kids will like them.

Outside the US, where Hot Wheels availability is limited and resellers are the only real option, there is barely a price gap for these cars. They feel redundant.

We had sets like this prior to 2023, they were just called Featured Assortments. I noticed the overall deco quality dropping rapidly soon before the Silver series debuted, missing the head and tail lights often for $3 cars. Paint for the American Muscle set was underwhelming to be kind about it. Hot Wagons was a terrific beginning, however case distribution decisions by Mattel soon after totally soured my initial optimism. If I was not a set completist before, the Silver series would definitely cure me of those aims. Has me giving the company a LOT of side-eye and suspicion whenever a set releases. Is there a _Functional Chase,_ which will have metal bases, and in the case of Neon Speeders, will we have to pony up more cash than usual because *reasons* ?

I hate how the 6 car silver series have a chase that's not 0/5. Due to this, I am not buying ANY 6 car silver series cars until they fix their bonehead mistake. They need to go back to make finding the chase an option, and not a requirement in order to complete a set... But I'll still buy the 5 car sliver series since there's no chase to have to hunt down.
