Fun little detail that doesn't really come across outside of the original manga in japanese is that when Ymir talked about the "monkey" titan, Eren asked "サル？" using katakana instead of kanji "猿" implying that he was just repeating the word as he heard it spoken, because he had never heard of an animal called a "monkey" before. So that's one more thing in addition to the language written on the canned food that Ymir somehow had knowledge of when others didn't.

From what I understand, Bertholdt's "I thought I felt sorry for you" is a bit of a translation issue. The "thought" part is just a response to Eren's "what were you thinking when". It's not meant to imply that his feelings are past tense and no longer how he feels.

Reiner is my favorite character and this is one of my favorite episodes from the show. Re-watching this episode having finished the whole anime hits COMPLETELY different! It's incredible how Isayama wrote a plot with so many layers and levels, adding lots of foreshadowing but still being able to keep mistery for a first-time watcher. Ymir is in my Top3 favs character in AOT. i can't say she is a Complex one, cuz when you get to understand her backstory and her motivations she is in fact. Like Historia says. A Simple Person. She says what she think and tries to act like she want... love that. And Yep Ymir is in fact in love with Historia/Krista, that's why she want to protect her to all coast. Even over her own life... I like so much Ymir Character cuz she is not in this or that "team" she is kinda in her own side, and even with that in mind and with her acting like she dont care about nothing, still we can see in the end that she is a good hearted person.

At this point it's quite obvious...there's way way way more to the story than who's the bad guy or who's the enemy. Its clear reiner regret what he did and the question of how bert is compartmentalising...the answer is how he behaves...he behaves quiet and almost always looks sad cos unlike reiner he's fully aware of what he feels is necessary to be done. Same with Annie...that's why Annie was always trying to keep to herself...cos why befriend humanity which you came here to wipe out. Soon you'll understand more of ymir...and it'll make more sense

I low key have strong dislike for Ymir. When she tells Eren to grow up I was annoyed. Then playing dumb.. Ymir irritates me a lot. Don't like her. I liked her at the tower she was growing on me, but not now.. Also I don't like how they let Eren assume he lost. He was kicking Reiner's ass until Bert came from the top rope as a giant flaming titan skull.. Not fair. Eren wins by DQ and would have won already

Therefore if the boys say they may be able to protect historia she would go along with that. Until she finds out more about eren and his powers she's for historia. Which is for her own self.

I think she knows she can't win against two warriors. Therefore it falls back to historia and what's best for her. In the end ymir even goes with them to fix her past mistakes (marcel) knowing historia is in "good hands" with eren and paradis. How would she escape two warriors who could transform, have training and defintely more strength? When she can't transform currently, has no training and most likely wants to know more about the warriors coming to paradis, as well as monke coming into play. She knows enough to basically sit back and watch

@@0nowztar495 spoilers While I get your understanding and confusion. I'm also trying to put myself in her shoes. She was raised from being orphan to a God reincarnated. Then the powers of Marley struck down. She and her church goers were shipped to paradis. She knows the power of Marley in titan/war form. She knows paradis isn't strong enough to defeat Marley. She knows paradis is doomed. She tries talking the boys into taking historia with them, which is too risky, but promise to help where they can (in my head cannon, they would have made sure to save historia even if the rest of paradis was wiped out, which ultimately wouldn't have been good as Marley would have used her, but I think the boys, more so reiner was serious about trying to protect her) so she goes with them in hopes that eventually they would at least save her love. Once she knows eren has coordinate powers she thinks paradis may be ok after all. As for her going with them THEN I think she feels guilt over marcel. Yes she should have stayed at THAT point, I don't fully agree with her going with them then. But I also think it's part of her self sacrificing nature giving in. Maybe that and she couldn't be with historia/not worthy of being with her. I agree with you after she finds out about eren, but before that info to me it makes sense. Even if she was completely honest with paradis, and told them everything she knows, that wouldn't have helped paradis. They arnt strong enough, their tech is weak, their army even weaker.
