In today's video we celebrate Jenn's birthday and she got to open up some very special hand made Christmas ornaments from Jackson! We also got to see Jackson attempt to take his first unassisted steps! He was a little shaky at first but I think he will pick it up pretty quickly now. For Jenn's birthday dinner we picked up some Tijuana Flats tacos and celebrated taco Tuesday. We hope you enjoyed this video and hope you join us tomorrow for another new vid!

I remember decorating the tree when my daughter was 21 months old. I put all plastic ornaments on it. When my dad looked at my tree and asked why there was nothing on the bottom branches. I told him to wait. She would come over pick up ornaments from her pile on the floor, decorate the tree, look at them, moved them around, and then take them off. I finally put a basket under the tree. She had a blast the entire season, decorating the tree over and over. It is such a fun memory. Watching Jackson making your ornaments, reminded of it. So thank you for sharing!!

I put the tree in one of those wooden playpen b/c most Christmas ornaments are dangerous, never lone the tree tipping on them & or poking their eyes.

Make sure you write the date on everything that Jackson makes. It helps to know later on when you look back at them. There is an accordion folder ( it’s huge) that you can buy to keep all of Jackson projects in by age/grade (Amazon). I was so thankful for it to keep things organized.

Jackson’s vocabulary is coming along great. I noticed he said “again” and “I did it” when taking a couple of steps between you both. He’s a clever little boy and really cute his laugh is contagious.

Jen- we actually put up 2 big trees in our house. We also put about 6-8 other smaller trees throughout the house. It really makes it festive and reminds you of Christmas no matter where you are in your home. Enjoy the whole season- not just 1 or 2 days. Merry Christmas!!

Jen, you have to try handprint snowmen ornaments. You get a blue ball ornament, put his handprint in white on it, then decorate the snowmen. I made them with both my kids. They are my favorite ornaments I have.

Hearing you talk about the coming Christmas holiday, as my family (w our 5 year old, Teddy - you met him 2 years ago) as always sit and watch your video together tonight, it occurred to me that with Jackson approaching his “first” Christmas, it might be worth asking you to consider being judicious in how you document your “first” Christmas as parents (and how you prepare for it and execute it for your awesome little one), as there might be some certain topics and elements of it that those of us who love to watch your videos with our own family would want to keep “secret” from our own little ones. Very happy belated birthday, Jenn! Sorry, I'm trying to catch up on KZbin now. I had foot surgery yesterday and prior to that I was busy trying to prep for it (i.e. deep cleaning, prepping meals ahead of time to freeze, Christmas shopping and decorating). It's great to see Jackson making things, you will definitely cherish them for years to come. Don't forget Grandparents also love these things too. When they were younger, my boys used to make presents/decor for grandparents, aunts and uncles, and teachers once they were in school. My favorite thing was a small handprint wreath cut out of green craft foam for the foliage (about 12 or so handprints per wreath, then we added pompom holly berries and a bow. I still have them and hang then up every year. Don't forget to put the year on the back of everything too.

Something to consider when deciding on what to do for Christmas with a little one, my boys would be overwhelmed with many gifts so I learned to give a couple of toys, a couple of books and a few items of clothing. I also did family passes to local museums, parks, zoos etc. We also celebrate St. Nick's day on Dec. 6th which is when we did our stockings. It was a great way to let them enjoy the little things as they waited for that special Christmas morning. At Jackson's age, an empty box could be a gift that is played with more so than the gift that came out of that box.

I have 2 large crates for each of my girls for their school years all the first years in school when they do all the arts and craft's for holidays. Even now when they are only in their early teens like looking at how "messy" they were. So I am sure when they are adults they will love to look through.
