With the tight berms they may have done that to keep speed way down to make sure it stays beginner friendly so better riders dont shred past people who may be learning.

Hey guys as you can see in this video I have been switching a lot between my helmet and chest cam angles, since a lot of the trails here were so smooth anyway I thought it's fine to use a good amount of helmet cam footage. I intend on doing a similar thing with future videos, but I am open to feedback on how much is too much switching around and how much gimbal footage you'd prefer to see!

They had started/planned out other trails (blue and black) around the mountain that were supposed to be open by the end of the season, but due to our extreme drought and fire risk, they were actually cut off from being able to use their machinery. The trail crew is going to be building new lines right up until the snow falls, and by next season there will hopefully be a more complex and versatile system of trails to enjoy. Ultimately it will take a few years for the park to take off, and this first season was probably more for the big white locals than anything. Nevertheless it was really cool to see you riding these trails, although the conditions did improve over the following weeks, as well as knockout and black mamba making it so there was at least one top to bottom (mostly) black/double black line to shred.
@JordanBoostmaster7 жыл бұрын

Brenden Russell also they had a strong snow year and slow melt due to a cool wet spring (like most of BC) so they had to waste machine hours excavating snow. For $25 it's fine. I wouldn't go there over Silver Star unless you live in the area but I look forward to seeing it grow! They have the right idea and should be supported by the community. My parks = better.

Jordan, you have to remember that beginner riders won't be as comfortable as you are going fast so that probably why the turns are sharper since most beginner riders will probably be traveling half the speed you are. I'm a beginner and can never keep up with my brother in law when we go riding since he has a couple years not experience then I do in the same trails. I'm totally okay with that.
@marysullivan15887 жыл бұрын
You know beginners have to start somewhere , don't be so negative .
@2wheelsbehindbarz2727 жыл бұрын
Black mamba was the best trail of this year and sucks that you missed it. They are building new trails for next year and I actually found a new build by chance on the last day. Big white needs more time to build, that for sure, get up to silver stars level. Honest review of their first day open. I like the different camera angles!
@MTNcorps7 жыл бұрын
Looks like they're off to a good start to be honest. They probably needed some return investment and opened early to pull in the local enthusiasm. Cool mountain!
@thatguythatdoesstuff74487 жыл бұрын
And that would be just fine, if they advertised as such and offered a reduced admission price. Willing to be wrong, but I'll bet they didn't. I consider it bait and switch.

Its basically there first season for mountain biking so not much to offer I've ridden all the trails except the black trails. still room to improve but next season will be better

Having those easy trails and tight berms are the same reason why they have lots of beginner bunny slopes on ski/snowboard mountains...because it attracts those who are beginner mountain bikers, which then brings in money. Not everyone is as skilled as you or I. You don't own the mountain (because you sound like all trails should be catered towards your riding).
@janschonander99176 жыл бұрын
beginners dont need 15 green trails. they need one or two. they wasted so much space on the mountain with green trails that beginner will get bored of those trails and move on but since there is virtually no progression there they wont come back. bad business model.
@SirSchmittyX6 жыл бұрын
Its a new track. I think WeekEnd133's point is that Jordan's negativity is just really annoying in this vid(it generally is anyway). Not every bike park is going to be perfect for everyone. He knew not everything was open so its stupid to give this place a negative review when he didn't get the full experience. From a business model point of view, this place was doing the right thing. Open up early and get a feel for what you have with less attendance and less staff.
@koltonm19216 жыл бұрын
they do that so they can add more trails branching off in the future. Adding the option for progression to a harder trail or to just stick with the easy trail

I totally agree with you. I live in Kelowna and I didn't even contemplate going to Big White after taking a look at it on trailforks. For everyone in Kelowna, stick to the home trail networks of Crawford, Knox, and Gillard! If you want to ride a bike park, then head on over to Silverstar! If you live near Kelowna and would like to ride some of our fantastic trails, you definitely should! I've got tons of videos of the most popular local trails. I'd definitely recommend taking a look at them before you ride so you can see what you're getting yourself into. There's stuff for all levels, but some of the gnarly trails should be taken seriously!
