The best part of hunting for me was always the people at Deer Camp. The stories and laughs you share make it rememberable. Tagging a Deer is a bonus, when hunters hit the woods it puts pressure on the Deer. So what they used to do gets changed by Hunters who might be in the path to there normal routes. Animals are creatures of habit.

Wow! I have a deer lease up in Madison County near where you are. I experienced the same as yall did doing the first weekend of rifle season last week. Prior to last week, my trail cameras showed plenty of deer, but last week I only saw a young doe and that was it! Stayed out at the cabin for two nights and saw nothing. We need to talk and compare notes for the rest of the season.

It was slow in Hill Country also,,,, shot a big pig,,,,,, Sunday morning i shot right over the back on another big pig. Went this morning, heard a Axis barking off in the distance, i then spotted some Coyote tracks, i bet thats what she was barking at. Last year opening day i heard 22 shots,,Sunday i heard 21 shots.. This year Saturday i heard 5 shots and 2 of them were mine,,,Sunday i heard 6 shots, one was mine. Saw a mature 7 pt, but not what i'm looking for. You got a nice Group of Americans there,,,glad to see you all having fun and enjoying nature,,, Godspeed to you and your Buddies,,,,,,,, ps , they are starting to rut here

Nice hunting, if you severe the artery of the deer at the neck as soon as it is down and bleed it, then the meat will taste sweeter and not gammy. You slit at the throat about half way and preferably hang the deer up and let the blood drain. Happy hunting.
