I started seeing their gears in one of the local shop... I see you're part of their Pro-Staff. How hard was it to get the "Pro-Staff" status?

Nice fish!! Love seeing bald eagles as a bonus. Good times on the kayak! Keep up the great work. Finally got out today and caught 3 small bows. It was 94 degrees here. Stay safe!!

Again I'm envious. When I had a good paying job. I visited B.C. 6 times for fishing. Whether it was hit or miss, didn't matter. It was a Bucket list thing to check off at first. Then it just made more sense than partying and burning money. Given those trips cost $$$$. Totally worth it. The experience was awesome. Keep it up as long as you can.

Way to go man! This little series of vids has been awesome! I gotta get a kayak that looks like way too much fun.
@freemanfishing3503 жыл бұрын
It's ridiculously fun if you are willing to put in the extra effort as opposed the standard power boat w/ electric downrigger.

Thanks, hopefully many more to come. Gonna try really hard to get my yearly limit in the salt this year of 10 but that'll be a tough goal to achieve even with the winter Chinook season.

possible to get info about your net?
@freemanfishing3503 жыл бұрын
Honestly can't remember the brand or where I even got it from, just a rubber net, had the thing forever and I can't see any obvious brand markings on it. It's a bit small for Chinook though I really want a bigger PVC coated net.
@wogysnl133 жыл бұрын
@@freemanfishing350 yeah I need bigger net for this season cant find any good ones from Amazon's... maybe local shop would have more choices.

Nicely done Bud. What is your “go-to” rod, reel and line combo? And would you stick with it or go heavier?
@freemanfishing3503 жыл бұрын
I was using a fairly light setup in this video but where I was fishing generally doesn't have many fish over 20lbs around. 10' 8lb - 17lb rod with a 6500 sized reel, 30lb braid with 30lb mono as a leader. Most people don't use braid around here but from the kayak it allows me to troll much deeper without using a downrigger as the line diameter is much thinner and cuts through the water. Having the same breaking strength leader as my main line isn't the best move if you don't want to lose your swivel & trolling weight but I had a break off in a previous video while using 20lb mono so I switched to 30 and have had no more break offs thus far. Probably the next time I spool up my reel ill go 40lb braid and keep the 30lb leader, 40lb braid is still really thin but that 10lb breaking strength gap would make a break off where I lose my whole setup less likely, not that iv had a problem with that but may aswell be safe.

You got the kayak, nice one. I'm still using my arms to paddle

I know you mean with a paddle but my mind went to you swimming around with a fishing rod in your hands. New video idea 👀? lol

I was tempted to bring my Hobie PA14 out on the Island ... I've never been on the island. But my friend told me they were charged almost 700$ extra for the ferry just because they had a trailer. So I guess I won't be bringing my yak out there anytime soon! I rarely use my yak since I moved to Agassiz.
@freemanfishing3503 жыл бұрын
That's rough, do you have a roof rack you could pop it on? Or do they charge extra for that too im not sure I haven't taken my kayak on BC ferries yet.

Another awesome day! Questions…so the past vids in the row boat you were catching Chinook’s. This was an opening day vid, so where you in a different area for those kings? Also, so you allowed to continue fishing after retaining your limit? How the Kayak compared to the row boat fishing wise. Easier, harder or about the same. Just fishing not to and from. Thanks
@freemanfishing3503 жыл бұрын
Catch and release Chinook fishing is legal. The kayak is definitely better for me because of the pedal drive. Hands free movement means I can stay on fish im marking on the sounder in tidal current/wind and keep jigging at the same time! The rowboat may be better if you want to exclusively troll as it is a more steady platform to mount a downrigger to.
