Seeing the 50's jarred syrup made me sad to see the writing on it. It made me wonder about the person who wrote it and what happened to them. I think about the person who bought that jar. I need to stop humanizing inanimate objects.

Miss Kelly Renee yeah I wonder why this was kept unopened for so long. My grandma kept stuff that was way too old but she had Alzheimer’s. She must have been senile before we found out. There was stuff in her cabinet from the 60s in the 90s. I had a very old neighbor with unopened jars from the 30s in the 2000s. Why do they keep these things? Just forgetting? For nostalgia?

From the web: "Many food brands were already hard at work trying to develop new food products with freeze-drying technology. In 1965, Nestlé released Nescafé Gold Blend, the first freeze-dried instant coffee. Over the next few years, freeze-drying would produce a whole slew of new foods, many of which (including freeze-dried ice cream) famously launched into space aboard Gemini in 1965 and Apollo 7 in 1968." Freeze-dried fruit may not have been wide-spread for many years, but freeze-dried food (instant coffee) was being sold to the public as early as the mid-'60s.

Why does the raisin can say 'Life Insurance in a Can'? Was it made for long term storage in a backyard bomb shelter or a Fallout Shelter? There were plenty of Fallout Shelters in the 1960's. We'll never know. :)

I think you might need to utilize an assistant to light the lighter at the moment the can opener pierces the can for any type of combustion reaction. Also except for the bright green the collards looked exactly like collards.
