Hey thanks for making this video. I'm interested in how others run their day. I'm from the central valley and we moved to Tennessee(the smallest town ever...) about 4 years ago. I started from home too and I'm about to open my small bakery/coffee shop this week!!! I'm so nervous. I mainly do cheesecake and cinnamon rolls but this town is dying for donuts. I'm literally the only bakery for about a 40 minute radius. So I know I can do well but the building owner can't have a deep fryer:/ any ideas or thoughts? Even a simple glazed ppl would die

Great Job! I promise it is a little scary at first because everything is so new, but eventually things start working like clockwork. Keep track of everything and start your books early stay organized :) That is key. You are going to do amazing ! Try to see if you can find local venders that can deliver donuts. Or ask your landlord what kind of permits you would need to allow a fryer and just go from there. Good Luck with everything and thank you for watching :)

Hi Samantha. You wrote this a year ago and I’m wondering how your business is going. I am also in a town dying for homemade donuts. Just like you, starting from home but scared!

Question 1: For your maple and chocolate icing do you mainly use confectioners sugar as base? Question 2: When I glaze my donut with chocolate although I made sure it is thick enough why does mine still drip alot.. Yours dont drip they stay on top nicely done.. Whats do you do? Should I fridge my glazes first before icing my donut?

Are you using a commercial icing, like from a bucket? Glaze donuts hot, iced donuts cooled down.

Doesn't the dough have to rise for an hour after mixing? Then for another 30 min. after the donuts are cut? Thanks for your time!

Hello. Thank you for your videos. My daughter and I are talking about opening a doughnut shop. My question is what kind of training do we need? We’re not sure where to start. Did you know how to make doughnuts before you bought your business?

Great Question ! I had no idea about how to do doughnuts. The previous owner showed us and we learned. I might be coming out with something in the near future to help businesses like small shops and so more videos coming soon.
@thoviki2 жыл бұрын
To start a donut shop business, you have to have a passion with the business at first. Training on how to make donut is just like training how to make or do anything. It takes times, mostly from 3 weeks or more.

@thoviki2 жыл бұрын
First, you get a job at donut shop, learn how to be professional baker and get paid at the same time. Also you try to learn the nature of running donut shop business while you there. Give yourself at least, about seizures month or more. Then you can think about running a donut shop. I learn from my own personal experience, I bought donut shop without having any clue what so ever, it was terrible. Lucky, I got loans after loans from my families to keep my business open. Till now it has 3 years I still survive, thank god!

How did you learn to make the donuts? Did the recipes come with the business when you bought it or did you choose your own? Did the owner teach you anything before selling the business? Thanks so much if you have time to answer! I’m considering opening a donut shop because there isn’t one in our city and our wal mart doesn’t even have a bakery!

Hi I’m a donut maker and just to answer your question, we typically mix our dough for 10 mins or so. You just want to make sure it has fully formed and come together while also allowing time for the gluten to develop. A good indicator that it is ready and has been mixed properly is that it should be fairly dry to the touch on the outside or at least not so wet or sticky that it gets stuck to your hand when touched. A well mixed dough will usually pull away from the sides of the bowl and leave it fairly clean as well!
@videosbykody3 жыл бұрын
@@xLaLaLunax Thank you for this answer! It's what I was looking for when I originally asked the question.
@xLaLaLunax3 жыл бұрын
@@videosbykody You’re welcome! I’m happy to help. I figured you didn’t get the answer you were looking for so that’s why I decided to try replying even though your comment was a few months old. So to be a little more specific, I usually start my dough on low speed for 3-4 mins. I keep an eye on it and when it looks like the water and most of the other ingredients are combined (doesn’t have to be perfect, you mainly just want to make sure the water is mixed in well enough to turn your speed up). Once it looks good, even if there’s a minute or so left on the timer I set, I turn it up to medium speed and reset the timer to 10-12 minutes. So technically it’s going to take 10-15 mins but sometimes the last few aren’t necessary. I also pretty much always mix my dough for the same amount of time regardless of the amount unless it looks like it needs longer or is ready early, but that doesn’t happen too often.
