Mike The Scavenger

Жыл бұрын

Howdy, y'all! My name is Mike and I absolutely love scavenging for free stuff, random treasures, lost valuables and other interesting artifacts. I mainly rock the dumpster diving scene but can be found digging through trash curbside as well as scavenging the river bottoms for lost treasures in the summer months. Join me on my epic voyages!

In a nutshell, I ‘m an avid dumpster diver, scrapper, picker, treasure hunter and underwater connoisseur. I prowl the city streets in search of dumpster loot, curbside treasures & scrap metal as well as scour the river bottoms for lost valuables during the summer months when I can scrounge up enough money for gas. Be sure to stay subscribed to stay up to date with my latest expeditions, y'all!

I think I've said this before Mike but one of the things that really makes me chuckle, and that I don't think you get enough credit for, is how far you've taken your editing and creativity in these videos. For those of us who have followed you since pretty much the start, to now, it's a huge difference. From the early days and the occasional cat shrieks and old school batman punches to now getting the really cool wire snip effects and (what the hell would yiu call it? "Wire slurps??? 😂😂😂)... as the old commercial used to say, "you've come a long way baby!" 😂 Thank you for all the hours of fun you've given us!

Mike, Somebody may have already commented but here goes.... 16:00 those are terminal strips. the metal parts inside those are usually brass. 17:00 those are coils called chokes and used to eliminate transients(spikes) in the voltage. The large metal piece is a powdered metal called ferite. The copper ribbon is the winding and the paper is the insulation between the windings. 19:30 Three phase power transformer with a lot of copper! Remove the bolts and then try to get the steel core laminations to seperate. Then you can just slide the three windings out 21:00 Those are power relays and the contacts inside are usually a high percentage silver alloy Keep it up dude, Love the videos!!

I love when you do the tear-down videos. Its always interesting to see whats inside. Also, would really like to know how much u made off that. There was more copper than i wouldve thought. Also, thanks for the hilarious humor. I had surgery and am recovering and have been watching every video of yours from the beginning to now and i love how you evolved over the videos. You went from not talking and not jumping in the dumpsters to now running and jumping headfirst into them lol. Love it Mike, keep up the great work. Smooches!

The rail mounted things are just terminal blocks, basically their only purpose it to make maintenance and troubleshooting easier as all electrical connections are in one place. The copper plates wrapped are just a different style of transformer. Transformers work by transferring the magnetic field from electricity from one coil of wire to another, but they cant be touching, therefore the paper insulation.
@mariushmedias

I think it was more like an inductor ... the black magnetic material is ferrite or contains ferrite. Inductors are more or less coil of wire around some magnetic material. Probably used for power conditioning / filtering, to reduce the amount of noise this device puts back into the grid, or for power factor correction.
