The Essex Steam Train and Riverboat is a tourist railroad operating using steam locomotives in Essex, CT. One of their engines is a 2-8-2 mikado type locomotive originally built by Tangshan Locomotive Works in China for the Knox and Kane Railroad of Pennsylvania in 1989. When that railroad fell on hard times, the engine was sold to the Valley Railroad in 2008. There, the engine was restored to the appearance of a New Haven J-1 class locomotive and renumbered 3025. The engine now hauls excursion trains on the railroad. In this video, we follow the engine as it hauls its train on the railroad during the opening weekend of the 2024 season! Enjoy the video!
