Seeing a place that's within driving distance from me through the eyes of people vacationing there. I need to visit more places in NYC and amp up my appreciation (especially as a theater lover)! It's very easy to long for trips that are far away (like the west end) and discount the amazing things around you (nyc). :) It's also so flipping adorable watching you both experience everything.

I loved your New York videos, so much. I disappointed you had to leave, but that is a trademark of a great vacation. You were able to do so much The only two things I was disappointed in were not seeing Matt Doyle in Little Shop and Reeve Conner in Hades Town in curtain calls. I love you and Aeron finishing each others sentences.

So glad you enjoyed NYC. It is also fascinating for me to see my hometown through the eyes of tourists. I am really looking forward to your “Sweeney Todd” and “New York, New York” reviews. Those, along with “Hadestown”, are the shows I am most interested in seeing next. My sisters and I are looking to go to “Sweeney Todd” in June, and praying that Josh Groban does not get sick again.

@@Aiviloangel - I ended up seeing “Hadestown” last night. Enjoyed everything about it, except Orpheus. Reeve Carney cannot sing or act, and his vocals were nasally and grating. Which caused the character to come across as annoying rather than endearing. It was such a shame, as the rest of the cast was incredible and the songs enjoyable.

Ragtime was, by far, the best theatrical experience I've had in my entire 67 years. I saw it in its first tour back in the 90s (I think) in Denver. While no members of the original Broadway cast were there, some of the touring cast went on to join the Broadway company as replacements, including Alton Fitzgerald White as Coalhouse. Like you, I cried throughout the show and have listened to the cast recording more times than I can count. A truly amazing show.

All Broadway theaters I've ever been to have been unbearably uncomfortable, and walking up & down way too many stairs required to go to the restroom. I'm 68 and have too much difficulty walking to go to a Broadway show again. I think it's a shame none of them can afford to remodel a bit.

What a thrilling last bit of your trip. Shout out to the random guy doing jazz hands behind you on the street because it felt very in theme :) I always find it interesting when shows "allow" curtain call videos vs "don't" but that's a subject for another video. (IOn tour I've only been waved off to stop once by the conductor at Aladdin when I was front row which was a bit weird) Looking forward to whatever surprises you have cooked up & maybe your next trip to the US will be a bit less hectic so you have a bit more down time to just take it easy.
@ChienaAvtzon
@ChienaAvtzon Жыл бұрын
Apparently, Disney is very strict about taping the curtain call. Pretty sure, the only reason “Sweeney Todd” is allowing it, is because showing Josh Groban on stage is free advertising. He is the major driving force behind the ticket sales and price. Same with “Funny Girl” with Lea Michelle.
@IshScout
@IshScout Жыл бұрын
@@ChienaAvtzon I had heard that about Disney just found it odd because there are things that are a "rule" but aren't enforced by those in the production unless it's a danger to the performers (ex bootlegs) & if it was such a big deal after they did the playoff they could of easily turned around to say not to share it/not allowed but said nothing even though I did film the rest of it. I saw Frozen on tour almost from the same seat & nothing was said to me at all. *shrugs* it's like the actors who signed during covid when they were told stage door wasn't allowed because they didn't want to be screamed at these things are only serious when someone actually wants to go through the effort to enforce them.
@callalily3994
@callalily3994 Жыл бұрын
The rule on Broadway used to be that you couldn't take photos or videos at all, even before the show started. They pretty much stopped enforcing that once we got to the point where everyone always has a phone with a camera with them, though.

As a New Yorker of twenty years, I loved all of these. I worked in an office in Times Square for seven years, and there's nothing like walking past the Elmos and painted ladies twice a day to make you wonder why on earth anyone ever goes out of their way to be there. (Pro tip: If you cultivate a proper New York facial expression and never pull out a camera, they'll leave you alone. That expression is "I *will* bang right into you if you get in my way.") So it's lovely to see someone else get so much enjoyment out of it! I forget how special things here can be! Also, I am dying over your description of a black and white cookie.

It has been a joy to see you both on this side of the pond and enjoying Broadway. I have loved watching the nyc vlogs and seeing you pass all these familiar places and enjoy the theatres, food and sights. I certainly hope you will be back and this was just the start of your Broadway adventures in NYC. It has been so much fun to see things through your eyes for the first time again. I can’t wait to see the rest of your reviews and follow up videos. What was the most surprising difference between Broadway and the west end for you? For me I was SHOCKED they served ice cream in the west end theatres! It is such a sticky messy food that would be awful to clean up if spilled and smelly and I couldn’t believe they sold it in these old historic theatres in London. It blew my mind lol the closest I have seen us come in the US was that Waitress on Broadway sold little mini pies in glass jars at intermission in the theatre. Even that surprised me as we typically don’t allow any food and only water or purchased beverages from the theatre bar.

Have loved this vlog series! Moulin Rouge theatre outside definitely prettier in London than New York, having been to it in the West End. I had no idea you couldn't film the curtain call, but then I never film anyway so I wouldn't! When I went it was the charity performance for Teenage Cancer Trust they did last year, and I know people definitely filmed Baz Luhrmann's speech at the end, but I can't remember if anyone filmed the curtain call or not, I assume not then if it's not allowed (though that doesn't always stop people!). I have the grey t-shirt from 40.14, I'm not generally one for buying merch at shows (other than programmes) but Moulin Rouge is my favourite film of all time, so had to get some show merch, and the programme came with the ticket because it was a charity performance! The one time I've been I was right at the back of the Grand Circle and I don't anticipate ever being able to get any closer because the tickets for that show are SO EXPENSIVE. So glad that Aeron got a ticket to Ragtime too, I was way too invested in the days before you went as to whether he would get one or not. I'm really looking forward to Hadestown coming to the West End and have all my fingers crossed that the tickets are at least somewhat affordable because I'm a big Greek mythology nerd and would love to see it.

Love this vlog! You seem to be having so much fun😊. I am so glad you went to Peter Pan Goes Wrong. When you started vlogging from New York it was the one show I was immediately like "I really hope they see that!". I am going to see the London Limited run in December. Have you heard any whispers of what the cast might be for that? I can't seem to find any info and I'd love to know if there's any chance/ rumours of the original cast being in it. It's hilarious so I'll definitely be going either way, but I am just so curious if Broadway could become West End again for a short time. I will be visiting New York in October this year and hope to catch my first ever Broadway show, though probably only one with prices what they are 😅. Right now I am thinking of seeing New York, New York. From what you saw, would it be a good choice if you could only see one Broadway show? So glad you are having a blast in the big city!

There are lots of ways to see shows for cheaper, if you're able to be somewhat flexible with timing and with which shows you're seeing. There lotteries, rush, TKTS, TodayTix, and a bunch more that I'm forgetting. It doesn't really work if you've got limited time and want to see specific shows, but if you're able to have a few "I'm going to try to see one of this bunch of shows on any of these several days" in mind, then you can usually get something (as long as the shows aren't the really big ones -- not many discounts for stuff like Lion King, Hamilton, Wicked, etc.)

@@callalily3994 Awesome! Thanks so much for the insight. I will definitely be making a note of those sites you mentioned and looking into their lotteries 😊. I am so excited and would really love to see more than one show if possible, so it is really helpful for me to know.

After watching again, I am curious if you left your last show then went to the airport for home. You said you had already checked out of your hotel. Can you get a plane out that late? You all now know way more about NYC than me. I have visited 8 times in spanning over 40 years but haven't done or seen near what you two have in two weeks!🤩

There's ice in the drinks? My concert hall doesn't allow ice in the seating area; NOISY ICE RATTLING is a real problem. New bartenders are always screwing that up (who doesn't put ice to bring down the cost in your cup?) Benaroya Hall in Seattle.
