It seems to, yet again, be the unintended consequences of pursuing an idea to it's end result, without seriously ever questioning the idea. But, as an American, I think this really stems from the post-WWII era. They were promised a nuclear war within their lifetime, a conflict that, if it did not erase humanity, would certainly set it back to year zero. Mutually Assured Destruction, where all aggression ends with the destruction of all. It's not hard to see how, within that framework, all violence & force is now an irredeemable evil. However, now that we are almost fifty years post our inevitable apocalypse comes the real question: "Was that all just a psy-op this whole time?" I'm not quite that conspiratorial, but I do think it was a bit of generational hysteria based on unknowns. Similar to primitive taboos: "Don't sail too far out to sea, that's where the world ends, you'll fall off the edge." Conformity to Fear. It's more complicated than that, but I'll stop there.

My grandmother once told me that, after the war, she and everyone she knew sincerely believed in this simple phrase: "There must never again be war." I see this stance reflected in pacifist activists of today who staunchly believe that an ongoing war of aggression can and must be countered with diplomacy only. The irony is that completely swearing off violence makes war more likely since aggressors mostly start fights when they think that they can easily win against a weak opponent. The introduction of Nuclear Deterrence certainly was a psychological weapon, if an extremely overt one. Maybe it also had a subtle side, since convincing your own people that you will definitely pull the trigger also convinces the enemy's spies among them. This happened to nevon Saturday.. I started talking with the protesters who were gathered in Margate. Almost immediately a van appearred and I was swiftly arrested. They drove me out of the area and then dearrested me as I could prove I would go indoors and stay indoors. I had both my with me So we couldnt argue my point as I was worried what would happen to them. This was wittnessed by a daily mail reporter who was shocked at what he was witnessing .. And said don't you have rights too as I was getting dragged away. I'm a white English male.

Your trying to tell me all these people from all over the world happen to understand the details and complexities of a conflict that has existed in one form or another for hundreds of years? Pull the other one it's got bells on it. There are only six points of real importance in this. 1. This has been going on since before any living memory in one form or another. 2. This current bout of violence started because Hamas committed a mass murder. 3. Israel is responding with mass murder. 4. Both firmly believe they have good reason for these murders. 5. Neither side will stop till they get to an impasse or a personally acceptable solution regardless of foreign pressure and this has been seen repeatedly. 6. There is a stunning lack of talking from people on both sides both from unwillingness and others blocking it. Untill these people have been studying the situation for 40 and traveled the region I'm not even interested in declarations of right or wrong let alone proposed solutions. But the key point in this is for both sides outside the immediate conflict to talk to each other. Because if we don't there can't even be the beginnings of understanding in the general public, which there really doesn't look to be currently it's all partisanship, which makes anyone reaching any kind of solution not only unlikely but unacceptable when it arrives. If you want to resort violence as a person not immediately in the situation than do us all a favour and go to Gaza to die like a pig because you aren't adding anything valuable to the discussion.
