Hi Jeremy, I have just recently found out about using Raspberry Pi's on a boat! I have a have just purchased a Pi and some sensors and look forward to following along with your guides. Please keep up the great work :)

thankyou so much for posting such great content Jeremy. i am stuck and have been for a while with the BME280 sensor. i get to the install where you are at timestamp 08:08. I dont see the yellow line which indicates that data is flowing nor can I see any data in the data browser section. the BME280 isnt even listed in the data browser tab. i have already tried 2 different BME280s as i have bought 3 of them just in case. same result. any help would be much appreciate please. TIA

Ralph were you able to see the BME280 when you "Add I2C sensor" at step 6:19? If so, then I noticed there is an issue with the BME280 and an update to the Adafruit library. See the Openmarine Forum where this is discussed, they have an easy fix. If you have another RPi with regular Raspbian or an Arduino you could connect the BME280 and check it out with the Adafruit library just to rule out the units. forum.openmarine.net/showthread.php?tid=3647&highlight=BME280

Jeremy. after some trials, i worked out that my sensor was actually a BMP 280 and NOT the BME! DUH! i also noticed that it was recognized at 3.3v but worked with data out on the 5v peg.

Hello Jeremy. Followed your instructions, however I'm having a problem with my Pypilot Signal K . The i2c is showing (full bars) but no signal for the Pypilot. Any recommendations for a programming novice as to how to resolve? Many thanks.

Don`t connect the I2C Module to 5V as you said in 3:41 min. It should go to 3.3Volt of the pi.

GY91 (3-5)VDC on VIn. Board has regulator.

@@ClarkTelecom Mabe it has an own regulator, but the SDA & SDC Pins need to be 3.3V for the pi.

@@howax The regulator knocks the 5V down to 3.3VDC for SDA & SDC.
