very interesting. I really like how you've brought in the RasPi for use here.

jeremey, very good and thank you. openplotter is a very interesting tool - I also use it - but i'm not that familiar with the whole system. I hope I can still learn a lot from you. Werner

Thanks for the video. My problem is that I cannot install pypilot on the version of open plotter that I have. There are no versions. Only gray line. Any idea what should I do?

Tom what version of OpenPlotter are you using? Do you see the same screen as I have in the blogpost Fig.3a showing PyPilot?

Hi Jeremy: Long time - been sailing. Last week I stubbled into info re rpi 4b and openplotter. I explains why I had so many issues getting sd card loaded and openplotter to run. They have now released version 3. I got a brand new sd card and loaded the image per normal.. First thing is that it would not load the correct image. Choice is 32 or 64 bit, but they have put both folders into the same headless folder. Pi imager does no know that and after hrs of copying you find that it has loaded garbage - the image must be moved to a new folder in windows so imager can find it otherwise it can not. Next I find text in both revised rev 2 dos on installation, and repeated but emphasised in ver 3 docs - "headless has bugs and will not run" . Also Ver 3 has been released incomplete - there is no install for I2C nor for pypilot, and both items are removed from the ver 3 docs. This is specific to the rpi4. I wouldn't be putting too much out there wrt openplotter without real big cautions re rpi 4. I have lost one hell of a lot of time on this, only to find that there were known bugs. Meantime I stubbled on "bare boat necessities". Its a new OS with openplotter/opencpn.pypilot etc. It loads, boots and everything runs as soon as switched on. The author has been real supportive as well and is on top of revising docs as soon as I found issues/questions. I have yet to get the arduino A/P drive running though. Richard

Thanks for this. I was trying to install pypilot on open plotter headless and could not do so. Now I know why.
