I think panicles gets a bad wrap it’s very unique environment and the protections for the condors is super important. Condors are curious and have schedules usually up at 9:50 and back home by 4:30pm. So they are hard to see, It’s not flashy but I think deserves to be a national park. But 9 is right. Great video!

Great video you guys.... We have only gotten to visit Yosemite so far. Last year when we were in the state most of them were closed due to the fires. Looking forward to going back.

Thanks! You got the best one out of the way! 🤣 We really lucked out with wild fires this year. The only time we've even seen any smoke was traveling from California to Oregon - and then we were about 15 miles from one of the smaller fires in Oregon.

I'm from Florida but travelled this summer on west coast. I got to see the Yosemite that was my highlight but there are 8 other National Parks to visit as I can see. Your video is a nice overview of all of them. I'm glad that Yosemite is number one on your list, it was absolutely magnificent and I got to see it. Great video, looking forward to your next episode 👍

I was pretty relieved to see Pinnacles at the bottom because I’ve read many other NP lists that rank it pretty high and I’m surprised every time lol it’s a nice park but doesn’t begin to compete with the rest on the list. Also thank you for ranking Channel Islands so high because that park is pure magic

I would largely agree with the list, but would have Redwoods at 2nd. The description you had about peace and time stopping for Channel Island was what I felt in the Redwood forests. The sunset at Gold Bluffs Beach in Redwoods was something Sequoia NP cannot replicate. Rest of the order I agree with, and Pinnacles really should be a State Park.

The last time I visited Pinnacles in about 1956 it wasn't a National Park. Again, Death Valley was just a national monument in 1958 when there was a wonderful wildflower bloom.

I live in the foothills between Yosemite and Kings Canyon, but I have never been to Channel Islands National Park, just seen them from afar driving the coast. We drove through the Joshua Trees area in the 60's before it had park status. When you get to Alaska, you will be disappointed that you can't drive across Wrangell-St Elias or Denali parks either.

Open Roading, I finally made it to Death Valley several years ago, and I couldn't believe what happened. The once-every-few-years deluge took place the night before, and I was drowned out of my tent. The next day, it was bordering on chilly. I couldn't believe it! However, the diversity in this park is beyond amazing. In the lowest part, there's a world record set for highest temperature. But, there's also an 11,049 ft./3368 m. mountain, which can easily result in snow at any time.
@OpenRoading

Oh my word-I can't believe you got caught up in that! But yes, the diversity is incredible. We actually have a video of us hiking that 11K peak!

While I understand this - I’m not in favor of making public land and especially public landmarks inaccessible purely because some humans suck. Make precautions. People go to general Sherman and other redwoods all the time. There has got to be a happy medium IMO. -J

There's a good reason you can't drive from one side of Pinnacles to the other: 80% of the park is protected as Federal Wilderness. That means no roads. You shot this video in front of the small apartment you drag across the continent, so maybe you instinctively like lots of roads, but there's no more effective way to protect wildlife and their habitat than excluding roads in certain areas. Read up on the Wilderness Act of 1964.
@OpenRoading

Hi there...the fact that you were more offended by our simple statement of fact (the roads don't connect) than our opinion that the park should be a state park cracks me up. 😂 -J

@@OpenRoading You've way off. I'm not offended by the fact that the roads don't connect. I find that a plus, not a minus. I was put off by your desire to have more road. The park is better without a connecting road. And I was put off by the fact that you didn't mention Wilderness status as a factor in your analysis of the park. It seemed reasonable to conclude you don't know what that is, or maybe even care.
@OpenRoading
@OpenRoading 4 ай бұрын
@@kevinlewallen4778 sigh.... We didn't share an opinion on the roads not connecting....we just stated that they didn't connect. And you seem offended that we stated that. We didn't complain about it...just said they didn't connect and if you want to get from one side to the other, you're gonna have to hike (something we enjoy doing a lot of actually). But us stating this prompted you to talk about us dragging our apartment across the continent etc and assume that we are ignorant to how wildlife systems work. ergo... you were offended by us stating a simple fact without offering an opinion about it which I still find amusing since a few sentences early we "bashed" the park by saying it shouldn't be a national park in our opinion.😁 Thanks for watching! Don't take us so seriously next time! We don't take ourselves that seriously. -J

@@OpenRoading I don't know, guys, I just watched the Pinnacles segment again, and it sure seemed like you raised the road configuration in the park as a negative, and you certainly didn't offer any information about why the Park Service manages it that way. State/federal, I don't really care, and I wouldn't necessarily put all national parks a step higher than all state parks. I'm more interested in public lands getting as much protection as possible. Some state parks do that very well. Baxter SP in ME comes to mind. Anyway, you seem like a nice couple. You love national parks, and so do I. Let's leave it at that.
