Love your channel! I also love Trinity! As Rottweiler owners and lovers, it is obvious that Trinity is part Rottweiler. We have been told by many campgrounds that our Rottweiler wasn't allowed because they have breed restrictions (due to insurance). Please always list Trinity as a mixed breed if you ever have to register her at a campground, and just avoid the word Rottweiler. :) Also, clean her ears regularly, as they are prone to ear infections. We’re about to head out on a 4000 mile trip from Washington State to the Utah 5, the Grand Canyon, and Grand Tetons. We got our motorhome back today after three weeks getting maintenance work done and it stings when the number you budgeted for maintenance is half of what it actually cost. It’s so worth it though! Just a little tip in case you don't know this hack for stripped out wood screw holes. Always keep some wood matches and/or especially some wood tooth picks to add more wood to the stripped out holes. The wood matches add more mass and stronger wood while the tooth picks act like shims to add more tension and strength to the repair. Just stick them into the hole as far as they will go and break them off at the woods surface. If the wood is broken and coming apart around the wood hole, covering the matches and tooth picks with wood glue before sticking them in and waiting for the glue to dry can repair that too, but it is better to drill a small pilot hole for this repair before adding the screw to keep it from splitting the wood more. I hope this helps with some future repairs. You wouldn't believe how many times I have done this for door hinge screws stripping in the door jamb, but also cabinet doors after someone decided to put their weight on the door and OOPS!

My initial 3d print lasted like a year. And when it broke I had a friend print me 2 more - but they have broken much quicker and I believe it's because I printed with PLA and he printed with ABS which I think is less flexible. But the snap....couldn't have been more perfect. 😂 As to the drone...software updates with any technology always scare me. 😱 -J

Your 3-d part may need to be printed in a different orientation so that the layers are perpendicular to the force that is exerted on it. Also you may consider a different plastic type that is less brittle / more playable. You would have to investigate plastic types that your printer supports. Possibly the best solution may be to see if you can get a direct replacement from the Rv manufacturer because those would be molded plastic not layered extrusions. Still that was excellent work that you recreated that.

My first part lasted a year (PLA) and I had a friend print these two parts and they were ABS and I think that was the problem. The way it was printed shouldn't have left a weak spot there other than the fact that it's a thin point. Live and learn! -J

You guys know better than to do laundry in a tiny town. I know I only need to do every two weeks, and wait for a big city. Surely you can do the same. Trinity is so cool.
@OpenRoading11 ай бұрын
What’s wrong with small town laundromats? I mean - if I open the washer and it smells like mildew or fuel I’m out but I’ve encountered that in a range of locations. My thing is - is the laundromat care for and in this case it 100% was. The machines were clean and working well. Least expensive laundry run we’ve done in a while! And no…we can’t make it 2 full weeks. 😂 -J

Maybe add headlights to your motorcycle rack. There are bolt ones meant for semi trucks. I added tail lights to mine. If you have both a 7pin and a 4pin connector. Plug them into the 4pin so you can just unplug them when you want to take off the rack. Most of them even have integrated turn signals.

I'm considering it. Unfortunately at the moment my list of things I should buy is pretty long and expensive so I'm having to prioritize accordingly (as almost every human on the planet has to do - so not complaining at all! Just why you won't see them popping up on the front carrier in the very near future. 😁) -J

Great episode! My husband and I took a trip to Big Bend 5-6 years ago when we lived in Texas so this brought back some wonderful memories. We stayed in Alpine and drove in to Big Bend, we didn’t realize how far it would be from our hotel! We also visited Marfa, will you be going there? Anyway, keep up the great work and my hubby says you all deserve to have much higher views with all the hard work you put in to your videos. Can’t wait to see what you’ll be up to next week!

We're working on trying to find a suitable place to do a meetup while we're up there. We're going to be traveling with another KZbinr with a bit of a larger following so we need to make sure it has enough space should a lot of people show up. So if you have any suggestions - feel free to let us know! Dog friendly would be nice since about 90% of the people who want to meet us really only want to meet Trinity. 😂 rvopenroading@gmail.com -J

Thank you so much! We strive to make them "1% better" each time. Sometimes I don't think we succeed on that goal but we keep trying so hearing someone say that they see improvement is huge! Love the Big Bend area of Texas, absolutely beautiful and one of the few places you can really get away from it all in the South imho I wonder if the unsafe / risky thing is going to one of the primitive camp sites in the interior of Big Bend Ranch State Park?! Looking forward to your next episode!
@OpenRoading11 ай бұрын
Good guess! But unfortunately we never made it to the state park 😥. We wanted too but our campground was very far away from it and we just couldn't justify the time. I COMPLETELY agree on the getting away from it all. There is just something about not having the option to look something up on your phone. -J

The next time you have to repair drawer slides, maybe you could replace the mechanism with extension drawer slides. They would be stronger and you could replace one drawer at the time and save the old slides that are not broken for spares. That drawer hardware they used does seem really sketchy.
@OpenRoading11 ай бұрын
YES! I want to replace them all. Sketchy is a very good term! haha! To be fair - I think we are putting more weight in the drawers than the designers of the RV figured would be in them (I assume they thought it would be simple plasticware and paper products for vacations). -J
@kencotton464511 ай бұрын
The weight issue is one reason I suggested extension slides as they support more load, especially when the drawer is fully extended.

Love your RV Channel and catching up to the current releases. My wife and I travel with our dog - she is a shedder too . If someone has not already described for the truck backseat a cover. We call it a hammock, but it lays on the seat and has sides that attach to the rear seat head rests and the also the front seat headrests - so it kinda looks like a hammock when in the truck. Found it on Amazon, not expensive at all. Take it out as needed to wash and store. Takes minutes to put in. Just search rear seat pet hammock. Anyway keep up the good work.
