Meet E. R. Braithwaite

"I imagined that because everyone was telling me I was so very bright, there must be something there for me. But my skin was black," says author E. R. Braithwaite.
England held the promise of opportunity for Braithwaite, who was born in Guyana in 1912. But even though he held an advanced degree in physics from the University of Cambridge, he couldn't find work in his field as a minority. Instead, he became a teacher at a school in the East End of London, an experience that inspired his first novel, To Sir, With Love.
Braithwaite has long been praised for his fiction exploring race and education. His books, which derive largely from his own experience, are still relevant today. In this wonderful video, learn more about how Braithwaite challenged societal norms and grappled with identity.

His Novel "TO SIR WITH LOVE" is published in Indian Textbook of Grade 12. He is the most respectable person who tolerated and handled such ill mannered students. He will be missed 😰😭

KT Kee That wasn't why people didn't like him. He spoke in an authoritative tone. I think it was too much for twenty somethings. My favorite class ever though. A lot of folks dropped out.

To sir with love novel is FANTASTIC and the film is out of this world, the names in the novel are the same in the movie. HIGHLY recommend both.
