How do you make 2 plit screen video? I just want two videos beside each other. I write 0.50 in the crop width, but then they both end up on top of each other. Which value do i change, and to what value, with the video on line 2, to make it end up to the left of the screen?

Thank you so much for this video! I was actually looking for a video on how to do a picture in picture (but with video) and it appears that I would just follow the same process. Basically I want to be able to make a motorcycle video with my forward facing camera being the main screen and my rear facing camera a smaller box in the corner. I think you have shown me the way my friend, much obliged!!!

Yes, but probably not the best editor for this. Something like Davinci Resolve or Blender would cope better. Openshot doesn't prefetch or have the option of using proxies.

Is there a way to make these layouts dynamic? Let's say I only want to show the canal initially, then 4 together as you did, and then only the train. From what I understood, these properties seem to be permanently set on the clips, meaning there seems to be no way to have their appearance change dynamically depending on the context.

Yes. Look into keyframes. Key frames are different points in the clip that can have different values for any property and you can define the curve over which those properties change between the key frames. Very powerful tool. You make them apply to the scale, location, alpha (transparency), audio volume or any other property of the clip and the changes can be linear, smooth, whatever you like. In fact if you apply a fade to a clip you might notice little green markers at the fade points. This is where the transparency gradually changes from 1 to 0.

Not the best software for 30 clips, you would probably have to render batches of 4 at a time!

Hi, do you know if it's possible to do the reverse? I have a recording of a presentation in Microsoft Teams, which is split into 4. I want to crop only the speaker and create a new full-screen video... I'm sure I won't be the only one who's wondering about this, given the increase in usage of recording and editing! :)

Hey dude I do a dance channel and the reason I need an editor is to create a split screen in order to show my dance and the original one.. But the original video that I download always has black space in the top and down so basically when I click the split screen the black space appears on the top and bottom only for the original video... Is there any solution for this?? Please reply Thank You

Difficult to say without being present, possibly the video aspect ration is the cause. To be honest I wouldn't use OpenShot, most of my editing I do with Kdenlive, Blender and Cinelerra all work with self generated proxy clips which makes editing a lot quicker and easier. Have a look through my playlists for tutorials.

What OS do you use? I use Linux so if you're on Windows some of the free editors wont work for you. Have a look at Lightworks free version it does have limited render sizes only up to 720p on the free version, 1080p/4k you have to pay for.

you need to modify Scale X, Scale Y, Position X and Postion Y properties. Scale should be 0.25, then change position to fit the screen.
