You can use red marker to mark where the clap is in the video (the frame where the hands come together), then drag the audio to line up the spike from the clap. Regardless of the accuracy of the original audio from the video things will match.

I tried to learn Reaper for syncing an audio recording with my iPhone recording of my band. I wasn't able to figure it out... to complicated and I had no help. But I appreciated that you could change the length of different parts in Reaper to make things line up perfectly. This technique was important since it was said that two long recordings (4 min. or more) are never the same even though recorded at the same time. But I couldn't figure out how it worked... so I'm here. I wonder your thoughts? Thanks... Tom

I think I had a video in Openshot Playlist that talks about adjusting volume levels however currently, Openshot doesn't give you a lot of control over volume levels. Hi, I would also like to mention to people that the open shot preview option itself when run have a problem where audio from a clip is not beeing read out correctly. In my case as a first time user of video editing I used a lot of time to get the audo and video in sync, when it turned out it was all good, but an error with the open shot preview functionality. So my tip to starters it the video and audio is not in sync on the preview, make an export of a small section of the start of the clip and check in the export if the video clip have any audio sync problems.

Unfortunately there isn't currently a way to record audio over video in Openshot, maybe a future update. What I normally do is play my video, mute the audio from video, and then record my audio using Audacity or even just my smartphone. From there, I then import audio as a separate track in project underneath video.

I do not mute the video. By that you will hear some kind of echo as long as the audio-track is not yet synced. The echo gives an idea if you have to move the audio-track left or right. Anyhow the wave-display-method is helpful, too. I did not know that and will use it next time. In addition there seems to be a little difference of the synchronistation between the open-shot-preview and the result after export. That costed me a lot of time, as I had to start export again when the export-result was bad although the preview looked and sounded good. To avoid this waste of time I am doing a test-export just of the first few seconds of a project by shortening the clips. So I can evaluate the export result (and fix it if necessary) and only then I will export the entire project.
@GeekoutdoorsBrand4 жыл бұрын
That's a good idea to do a Test export as what you're seeing in Project Timeline might not sometimes match up exactly with exports especially if project are more complex/4K etc..

I've played with some OpenShot features and understand the following: 1. Volume and smooth values: You may choose your clip (e.g. with the waveform) and at the very beginning of it you can set in the 'properties' value for the volume from zero to... , where 1 is the original 100% volume. Further you may play with volume using keyframes over the clip, the same way as you may play with video transformations, colors etc. 2. The wave color is for showing the waveform OVER the VIDEO (or instead of it). How to achieve it? a) in the clip with the sound in its very beginning set 'waveform' property to 'yes' (yes, this is again a keyframe, OpenShot is all about keyframes per proprties and clips) b) move this clip (with the sound) to the top of the tracks, so it would be over your video and you may see the waveform over your movie. Here, optionally, you may also update somewhere on the timeline your 'Wave color' property (again keyframe!), so your wave on the screen will change its color since this keyframe to the desired color.

my problem is it's hard for me to move around tracks coz it's not showing the same as yours. It's kind of zoomed out so I have to move the slide down to go from video to audio track. how do i adjust my window view to show all tracks just as shown on your video? please advise. thanks!

I think in my case, it's on a higher resolution screen so I can see all tracks at once.

I think I did a video on this in Openshot playlist but in general, separate audio track and right click to adjust volume.

some of the files are lagging after i import them. they are fine when i prveiew them but when i add them to the track they lag. how can i fix this?

Unfortunately I've noticed that Openshot isn't the best when it comes to Optimizations even with powerful hardware.

Nice video. I just installed this program today and I was wondering, how can I play a song throughout the whole video? The song is only like two or three minutes, but I'm not sure if that can be replayed or do I need to copy it over and over through the whole video which I sort of did because the video is 30 minutes long, but I thought I ask. I figure maybe there is an easier way to do this. I use shotcut on occasion but I thought I give openshot a try.

Thx for watching! I normally just copy the track or edit however you'd like. I'm not familiar of a way to extend the music without it slowing down or repeating.

Thanks, I just ended up speeding the video up which also shortened it and that was even better and I just needed a bit of a second song.

I'm having problems with choppy audio when its synched to the video. When it plays on its own its just fine
@GeekoutdoorsBrand6 жыл бұрын
If it's happening in your Openshot video editing sessions, than this could be normal based upon your PC hardware specs and the resolution of your content. At least that's what I've experienced.

What should i do?

Well Openshot struggles with performance when it's got more elements in timeline. I did do an episode of this in my Openshot Tutorials that might help. Just look for this episode in the Openshot playlist: Performance and Proxy Clips

Hi, how do I get my video audio on a sound track if u mind?
@GeekoutdoorsBrand5 жыл бұрын
In think I did a video on how to extract video from audio in the Openshot Playlist somewhere - can't remember exactly which video.
