@@mikescoladeviousmike6377 That just means you’re not quite ready to absorb this type of musical information yet. Once you get to the point where chords like “F”, “Bb” and “C7” are something you can play without thinking, then you’ll be good to start playing this stuff and adding your own personality to it
@mikescoladeviousmike637714 күн бұрын
@@manifestgtr I learnt more last night than I ever have since seeing this video. I knew alot of theory but never utilized or made sense of it until few hours ago. I was one of those guys who is familiar with instruments can play piano but at the level of not understanding n relying on muscle memory, but past few hours I been getting atleast to the point I can actually learn properly and make sense of progressions. I'm truly amazed 👏. Now I'm beginning to understand how to actually play and see what chords fit finally for cadences. Finally understand the chord families atleast at the level I can actually practice constructively. Been experimenting in a practicle manner and having atleast some success finally. Also my melodies and basslines are already a bit more practicle fitting the groove for once. Trying to not just play random stuff till one note works then trying everything till another note fits, now I'm beginning to realize the melody comes out naturally and fit better than just pick8ng a note that isn't needed but atleast doesn't sound horrible. My beats in the past where lacking a motive and just randomly added notes that even if they fit they didn't belong. Now I don't even add as much but one or 2 notes played in my improv seam to just compliment the peice alot better and I'm still brand new to this feeling. Feeling now that I can finally atleast come to understand chords and not just freestyle aimlessly till something works. A motive and well thought out understanding is beginning to fit my project 100 times better just off a few hours focused on cadence. Connecting all the dots for me and not overthinking but finally feeling the music ♥️ I'm not a musician but I do play instruments just havnt fully grasped how to improv and make sense of the little bit of theory I knew but now starting to actually understand now. Never thought about cadence but now I get the chord numbers and why some are maj or min or diminished etc... I been forcing myself to stick to the chords of the key and letting that influence what chords I try to play together. Its so much more practicle, it's probably obvious stuff but I never knew that you can know what chords would fit together instead of trying mutkiple chords and getting nowhere and intimidated.. finally starting to think about proper progressions and learning to get used to them specifically instead of aimlessly trying improv untill fluking something that fits seldomly. I made 4 beats already that have logical progressions complimenting my sample and finding the melody is way easier and more effective just off of a few hours of looking in the right direction 🔥👌 not just relying on my sample to have a progression but adding my own to compliment a sample in a good way I used to spend hours and days until something worked out.. now I'm understanding and can maybe become a musician instead of just playing at that level of only knowing a few songs because muscle memory. I was alot better at guitar for chords but guitar is easy to improv chords even without understanding them so I pretty much still suck lol 😆
@mikescoladeviousmike637714 күн бұрын
@@manifestgtr I still need to count my intervals to know maj from min, diminished and augmented, but I've been getting used to familiarizing myself with the chords. I'm soo happy, this video made me atleast start to understand and look in the right direction. I improved more in these few hours than I ever have for past 20 years lol 😆 feeling like with enough effort I can confidently become a musician one day and not just a half ass hobbiest lol
