Might just be me, but there seems to be a heavily skewed ratio of BQs walking in performance vs anybody else, especially FQs. As a novice spectator, I’ve noticed in these videos and on other channels, that a performance category can last 20 min and I can count the number of FQs who walk, let alone get beyond 10s, on one hand. It feels like an over-saturation thing that has been persistent at least in the past few months. Nothing against the BQ style of vogue, but the modern version at least seems to be stunts on stunts and that’s about it. I notice the lack of FQ performances because there’s noticeable elements (that are done with a purpose and not to just to meet the criteria), there’s more storytelling, personality, floor work, dramatics for the sake of storytelling, and more voguing than giving a dance routine with an occasional dip. I read a comment on a video posted years ago that not a lot of FQs were walking because the judging was harsh on them and no one comes out because there felt like no point in walking. That resonates today it seems. If you got this far, thank you. I learn about the ballroom scene strictly from YT videos, and given the current trend, it feels like the ability for newcomers to grow and get recognition is not on an even playing field. At least 70% of the FQs I see walking and lasting in performance categories are legends and icons. It feels like if you’re not already well established, the hill to climb is a lot steeper. This all just came out of me, but I’m open to different perspectives.😊

i do have a theory about this and i think fq performance i has a much higher bar much like fq face. i just joined a kiki house and i’ve noticed that fq’s who walk performance receive more critiques because you have to not only change your appearance but you also have to altar your performance as well. fq performance is in a class of its own because what goes into it is so much difference when compared to drags or even bq performance. being able to sell sex appeal, being feminine, incorporating jairo graphs and the most uncomfortable part, not voguing like a bq, which comes so naturally next when a lot of these girls start, they come into the scene before transitioning

also a spectator here but from what I’ve heard a lot of FQ’s prefer not to vogue against BQs bc of the way the vogue. as you said being femme is about elements and oozing that for the most part. BQ’s can be a bit more aggressive in their vogue and that seems to be off putting. maybe in result less FQs decide to walk.
