Besides her extraordinary voice, R.A.S. has an immense amount of charm and beauty!

Swenson was/is a lovely singer who got taken for granted very quickly, especially at the Met.

Thank you for this. I’ve always loved her. I’m a classical singer as well and this woman has been in my classical singing life, as well as June Anderson, since I started singing.

Ruth Ann Swenson is truly under rated! She is one of the best sopranos (IMHO), a true jem of a voice and person!

Her rendition of Juliette's Waltz is still the most purely joyous i've ever heard, she's so happy, makes the downfall even sadder ❤And with a full bodied lyric coloratura, the voice doesn't appear to be small, although i never heard her live

Great NY sound in her voice...and a great Met singer - her generation were smart, hard working and had that extra something.

IMO, she and June Anderson were the two most legitimate successors to Joan Sutherland. Both should have had bigger American careers.
