Learning Noctis's fate, I thought, "welp, I guess this is it." I understood the situation logically, but not emotionally, and Somnus (w/vocals) changed that. Noctis, the King of a fallen kingdom was walking to his death, but he'd walk tall with silent, unwavering conviction... and I FELT THAT. Gladio, Ignis, and Prompto, were there alongside him, they grew up with him, they loved him, he was their brother and they walked him to his death... and I FELT THAT. I didn't feel sad though, it was... bittersweet? Opening up emotionally has never been my strong suit but slowly allowing myself to feel music has allowed me to understand it on a different level. I love 15, despite its many flaws, it was the game that cracked my shell and allowed me to feel the music instead of listening to it.

This song is so ICONIC for Final Fantasy XV! I first listened to this piece in the second trailer, back when it was still called Final Fantasy XIII Versus - When I did, I knew that I had to see the final work. The final product wasn't perfect, but the role this piece played absolutely was, and hearing it play with vocals on the party's final trek into Insomnia was an experience I won't forget.

The emotional feel of this song for a moment reminds me of Code Vein's tutorial theme "March of the Lost" and Eva's theme "Requiem: Tranquility and Light" both in the same game, composed by Go Shiina, and both are masterpiece. Right from the start, before the gameplay even get to you, the tutorial theme will lead you into and throughout the entire story of this game.

I haven't played this game, but this was used by a friend of mine as a major motif in his dnd campaign (he was the dm, i was a player) and the discussion on transcendence is something that really resonated with me. It's incredible how much power there is in music, even removed from its original context. "This isn't just 'game' music" might be a very simple sentiment, but i truly appreciate the way you articulated it.

Man, this is my favorite song of all time. I usually go for heavy and hyper stuff that gets me energetic, but this song was just too beautiful. It's really melancholic but still peaceful in a way. Really does make me reflect on the pains and qoes of life but still hang in there for what feels like a more hopeful future. I love this author and this is her magnum opus in my opinion. This song is so good aaaaaahhhhhh.

FFXV is really special. Whenever I hear this piece I can’t help but think of the moment at the start of the game where King Regis is chasing Noctis down the stairs, knowing he didn’t have much time left but desperately trying to cling to what he knew would be his last conversation with his son. Doing all he could to try to impart some lasting advice without worrying Noctis or giving him any reason to think anything was amiss. But in his last words, you could see in his eyes the overwhelming sadness of a father saying his last goodbye to his son. My father had the same look the last time we spoke. He passed away last week and I miss him so much. So I find myself coming back to this song.

This piece convinced me to buy a PS4 along with this game. I myself was surprised when I found I wanted to spend so much money over a music track, but really, Somnus is special, magical. I tear up almost every time I listen to it...it makes me feel something like longing, it's a hard feeling to describe but I just love this piece. I'm so happy to have bought FFXV. It's become one of my favorite games of all time. It's not a game you play for the story (while it IS good if you watch Kingsglaive and do the Episodes (DLC)) but rather I think it's meant to be played more... slowly, without a care about whether or not you're advancing. Just enjoying exploration with the bros (I have the platinum trophy and hundreds of hours played so I think I know what I'm talking about lmao). The ending always makes me cry btw, i get too attached😭 (another song I love from this game is Ardyn's Theme (II), it shows his character SO well! also Home Sweet Home and Episode Ignis Theme!)

While Nobuo Uematsu wrote some of the most iconic pieces of music from the series that I still revisit fairly often, Shimomura did a beautiful job with FFXV and wrote some of the most gorgeous pieces of 'video game' music ever written. Honestly, I love this song, and the vocal version as well as so many others in the soundtrack as a whole it can en volk so many feelings, as any soundtrack should, be it for a movie, tv-show or video game. And I've always been a sucker for soft, sombre music in games, sometimes I'll find myself just standing still listing to the music, looking at the scenery. One game, in particular, I find that can do that is from Silent Hill. Yeah a horror game, but when you listen to the soundtracks, walking through an empty street in the early morning where no a soul can be seen, it brings a sense of calm and a time to contemplate. I'm not sure if you've ever played any of the Silent Hill games or even heard the music, but I'll mention a few songs from Silent Hill 2 that (to me) can bring a sense of calming or where you can just let your mind go. I've listened to these tracks when reading, doing school work, going for walks or riding on a bus/driving a car. White Noiz, Ordinary Vanity, Promise (Reprise), Null Moon, The Day of Night, Magdalene, Prisonic Fairytale, True, and Theme of Laura (Reprise) Now there are a ton of iconic songs in these games (Theme of Laura especially) but I went for ones that aren't bombastic or over the top. But for now, I just decided to go for the most well-known/beloved out of all Silent Hill games. (Though I love them all equally/for specific reasons in their respective stories, even the disliked ones) though these songs are not very long, they still give so much in the game or just listing to the song as is. If you do give them a listen or you'd like more suggestions for Silent Hill music I'm more than willing to list some more songs for you.😊

I love how you view music. Since my childhood have I listened to things from different counties, other languages because it was able to transport me to so many wondrous states of mind. It could get me active. Bring me hope. And make me feel when other things couldn't. It is one of the reasons music is important to me. My taste in music was often the target of bullies but they at least could never take music away from me. I'd like to suggest something to you. Which is, Nightwish Ghost Love score (live at tampere) Nightwish is a symphonic metal band. Thuomas who composes the music is a brilliant muscician and I am sure that his works and the band will not disappoint you. Another one I'd like to recommend is Erutan. It's hard not to feel what the developers want you to feel when this track plays. Even when the story isn't batting for the fences, you can count on the music to keep you invested in the moment which I truly respect. I do have a bit of an oddball recommendation for you. Spinal's theme "Warlord" from the Killer Instinct reboot. It's a Swedish war prayer begging an ancient warrior god to save them from their imminent death, backed with the sound of a traditional horn made from human bone called a Kangling.

To me, XV has a special place. It wasn't perfect. At times it even got frustrating, especially towards the end. I have written a very long steam review as well. But it has some of the best tracks ever for any Final Fantasy (XIV excluded because that would be just unfair) and it also had characters that I enjoyed. Aranea, Ignis, Prompto... Even the villain was good. Someone who got kicked around by the gods, betrayed left and right and eventually just had enough and wanted to see the whole world burn.

So I looked through your uploads and didn't see anything from the incredible Dragon's Dogma, so I'd like to suggest Eternal Return or Coils of Light (the English or Japanese version of the latter) from that soundtrack. The first tells the story of the world in which the game takes place and of an ancient man who discovered a startling truth, while the English version of the second tells the story of a boy whose fate sets up the game's expansion, and the Japanese version tells the story of his adopted mother. They're masterworks all, can't go wrong.

Is the translation actually different? That’s nuts.
@vitriolicAmaranth
@vitriolicAmaranth 2 жыл бұрын
@@mjtechnoviking44 Yeah! It's really cool. Usually when you hear about something like that it's because of a translation error but it was a deliberate choice so they could use each language to tell a different side of the story. It doesn't really reveal more about the story than you can learn from in-game text and dialogue, but it adds some "texture." Also EN is sung by a boy while JP is sung by a woman to reflect their relationship as mother and son. In the JP version she talks about the experience of dying and the warmth she felt wash over her during her transformation, the fact that she never said goodbye to Ashe before leaving on her final journey and dying, wondering why it is significant that the Arisen's heart is removed specifically (that's the plaintive question at the climax of the song where the boy in the EN version asks "what future didst thou envision?"; she instead says something like "what did you mean by this scar on my chest?" which is something the Arisen retain even if they turn into dragons themselves; Ashe's question is fittingly to Greta herself, who was his Dragon, but her question is the her own Dragon, or even to the Seneschal), and wonders if the entire cycle and "dogma" is simply a meaningless dream or illusion and wonders why, then, the Arisen continue to fight. She concludes by singing the game's main vocal motif again except it's the English version ("O, now I have seen the dragon's dogma/unbound-by-time, all-binding, grand design./Land, and skies, and seas yearn/Finish the cycle of eternal return," which is semantically the same in Japanese, just the line/word order is shuffled around a bit to make it fit lyrically and grammatically (or probably the English version is shuffled; the Japanese version was probably written first)). I always tear up listening to the English version when he gets to that climactic verse that goes "when thou pulledst this boy from the sand/didst thou see him bearded with brand?/and along the coils of light (when our blades took flight!)/what future didst thou envision?" It sounds heroic and exciting on its own because it evokes their heroic past and contains a crescendo, but within the context of the story it's crushing because he's earnestly begging for an answer, whether Greta knew the long torture she was dooming both of them to simply by saving his life, and wondering whether it would have been better for her to have let him die as a child rather than making him grow up with a warrior for a mother, who would risk her life constantly and inevitably die in battle, spurring him to take up the sword himself and follow in her doomed footsteps seeking revenge.

@@vitriolicAmaranth it’s been too long since I read the tablets but if she became a full on dragon then she would have had to lose to the seneschal. @@mjtechnoviking44 Yeah, she did become THE Dragon (Ashe thought he was going to fight the same dragon Greta fought, then realised it was Greta herself) so she did fight the Seneschal. But if you're referring to the part where I said she might be asking the dragon or even the seneschal, I mean that it's about the scar on her chest, for which the dragon was more directly responsible. A funny thing with the lesser dragons is wyverns were rogue classes, and their heart-scar is on their back instead of their chest, implying that while they stood up to the dragon at first, when things started to look bad they tried to run away and got their hearts yanked out through their backs.

If you're a FF15 fan, Marco, have you ever watched the Kingsglaive movie? You'd probably really like it, if not! I did, for sure. It also clears up/shows some vital things in the story which we don't get to see on screen in game.

FFXV had a lot of well deserved criticism but it's characters, music and those last emotional bits at the end of the story were remarkable. Absolutely worth playing in my opinion for those alone.

These aren't video game tracks but I find them to be incredible pieces of music to me, they are from a show called RWBY. I also recommend they are listened in this particular order, because it's a saga of songs that tell a story. Path to Isolation Mirror Mirror Mirror Mirror pt 2 It's My Turn This Life is Mine All composed by Jeff Williams and the singer is his daughter Casey Lee Williams. Mirror Mirror came out first but Path to Isolation is kinda like a prequel to it. In fact Path to Isolation is the last song to come out in relation to this little story arc, lol. However I understand if you don't want to do it, it opens the doors to anime, cartoon, movie music etc that isn't what this channel was supposed to be centered on. But if you're ok with expanding the scope of the channel that's cool too.

FFXV may not be everyone's favourite Final Fantasy game. But I feel like it's a masterpiece in writing and music despite its gameplay (which I still enjoyed). And it's my favourite Final Fantasy game by a longshot, yes, I think it's leagues better than VII

play this song at my funeral. it is the undisputed number one for me. there is nothing else to say. while i prefer the versus xiii version (that sadly doesn't exist officially :D) somnus is just on another level altogether. i have it playing constantly on my wallpaper engine. sitting here on a friday morning during vacation, with chill vibes and coffee in hand, there is nothing more magical than these couple of minutes.
