I think having larger vocal folds helps him. I am not expert, but I do research everything Dimash because he touches my soul. Freddie Mercury had two extra teeth that extended his vocal space, I think Dimashes large vocal folds may be very similar in effect. The mystery of Dimash is that both of his parents where musicians, his dad an instrumentalist and his mom a famous khazak opera singer, he inherited talent in his genes, further he started training at age 5 and at a young age he was pitch perfect, he is working on finishing his PhD in music, and let's say he has a natural gift from above with all the hard work and passion for his trade, we are given this phenomenon known as Dimash, and the cherry 🍒 on top is that he is such a great person, charitable, humble, loving...It just makes him all the better. Seriously I would give him a big hug of love if I could. I admire him so much, and he has brighten my life since I first happened to discover his existence. I wish more people were like him, he is a bright light in an ugly world. That's my feelings and I think not just mine but many others, he calls us Dears and I gladly and proudly accept that title.

Thanks for your wonderful reaction. Dimash loves to sing this song. He is very passionate in sharing his country, and culture with the world. He was overwhelmed with the participation of his audience, when he performed in New York. DEAR’S from all over the world gathered together this past December and surprised him, learning the word to this beautiful song so we could sing this song to him. I was blessed to be in the audience at that concert. To see and hear him sing live is a unforgettable experience. It was my dream come true. 🎼🎶🎤❤️🇺🇸

I am persuaded to avoid the long click baiting videos commenting on Dimashi who seek to make a fame under the shadow of the performer. I took the time, however, to listen to your insightful analysis. It is, as a matter of fact, the best analysis, to my musical culture and abilities, that I have heard. It worth my time, indeed. I had come to understand the sport beyond what seems to be simply expressed by means of voice and understand that it is a sport in terms of the biology, physiology and anatomy of such wonder. I was able to see through your explanations the why and how behind the modulations, switching between voices and their colors, Dimash is able and capable to pour into his arts of singing and why such control and power is given to those whom are able to seize their talent and make sense beyond our knowledge and understanding. Thus, I understand why he is a miracle to music and how challenging he has become to every singer from ethnic to classical and subcultural style of singing. From how you portray the changes of apparatus that is behind the sound I understand the training, the further training and its sport -sorry to tell it this vulgar and for the third time- that cannot be wonderfully taken advantage of it unless one is conscious of his talent and make a wonder. Therefore my idea of sport that requires to get to such sublime and wonder stage of interpretation. Thank you for your inspiring and talented analysis you are bringing to us.

One of the most soulful and lyrical songs performed by Dimash (one of my favorite). There are also a lot of deep songs in Dimash’s repertoire, where he doesn’t demonstrate his vocal skills (War and Peace, Daididau, Samaltau), when you listen to them you don’t think about vocal, the main thing is the meaning and the lyrics themselves. Very interesting and informative video, thanks for the excellent analysis👍👍

Thank you for your continuing interest in the art of Dimash! Daididau is one of my favorite songs as well. The song and his performance convey the desolation of the broken lives during the Stalin times. As you have started with Bastau, he sings there one of his most beautiful songs - the Kazakh ballad Give me love (it was in Episode 14 of the Singer - the Gala concert, which is not reacted to often).

There is a small difference between his version from The Singer and this one. But it’s understandable: at The Singer competition his goal was to impress the audience in 5 minutes ; while here, he has to sing a 3 hours concert, so it’s different, he must spare his voice.. I’m waiting for your reaction to Ogny Pietra and Passione ☺️😃 Edit: I really don’t like the idea that you are not allowed to watch in advance a song that you are going to react to! I’m not watching your video for you’re facial expressions, to see you ,,blown away” and super impressed! (There are literally thousands of that kind of reactions to Dimash on KZbin) No, I want to hear a pertinent and professional analysis! That’s why I highly recommend to learn about the song you’re reacting, about the story/ topic of the song and about the composer. Especially with songs like Passione which is a piece of art, that you can’t fully understand by watching just 1 time, there are just too many things happening there ! It’s like in opera, I watched Turandot or Traviata, or Aida many times; still I discover new aspects every time .

thanks for a nice reaction to this beautiful song. 😊 😍 ❤️ 👍 😁😋🤩 he totally owns stage and audience, he has such presence, drama and emotion and really lives his way into the role and piece that he interprets, not only vocally but also as an actor and so focused and how he leads his voice to where he wants it. perfectly vibrato full-bodied clear warm soft and strong tuning, superb dynamics, resonance staccato crescendo colorature mixed with Eastern and jojk/yodeling and melissma. so much sound colors and harmony. this is just a few things to say about Dimash and what hes able to do. everything he does seems so playful easily. and he goes as easily with glissando from the highest heights down to baritone as he walks from the bottom up. his transitions are outstanding and fascinating. incredible volume control in transitions tone changes and falcette and mix. in the Diva dance song he makes glissando from F el G 2 up to breathless falsetto tone and then over to flasholett without adding strength. not to mention his belle canto. and that he makes chiaroscuro with ease (both dark and bright combined) he can really conjure with his voice. belting over to the chest and then head and whistle and down to baritone. the name of Ogni Pietra actually is Olimpico. it would be so nice to hear him take on Nessun Dorma. have you heard "Nämner du Sverige" or "Che Gelida Manina" by Jussi? im sure uve heard him do Nessun Dorma.

You've hooked me. I'm not any sort of vocal expert. Dimash stuns me, I know I'm hearing a virtuoso, but in my head, there isn't much to help me understand the nature of his craft. For that reason, I've sought the reactions of vocal coaches, hoping to glean better insight. And I'm making some progress! For example, I'm pretty well tuned into the nature of Dimash's use of dynamics. He has an enormous dynamic range, from breathy almost-not-singing to full belts and crazy mixes. He uses dynamics to create intense drama in his songs. He had to have gotten his sense of drama from his classical training; we sure don't hear much of it in radio-formatted pop music, which tends to be dynamically flat. Angel, you're taking me deeper down the rabbit hole, which is exactly where I want to go - explaining nuances I could not have understood alone. And you are sharing your sheer pleasure from his performances. I take delight in the sharing.

If you watch the Gloria Wu version after the fact, the backstory with give the lyrics context. The same goes for Episode 8 "Daybreak". The vocally superior version is from Bastau, but the Gloria Wu version gives you the tragic backstory to the song. The Gloria Wu version also goes into how Dimash had lost his voice the day before having to sing, and had an injection to his throat. I thought it was Gloria Wu's intros that prevented copyright strikes. I do know however that her "Autumn Strong" is slower, and ends up a semi-tone lower. Both the Singer and Bastau versions of "Daybreak" are in E, but I guess for a vocal analysis Bastau would be better, and I suppose knowing the meaning behind the song isn't that important for that purpose. Some reactors do both the Singer and Bastau versions in one reaction. Or I guess you could always watch Gloria Wu's intro to the beginning of the song beforehand (use the "cc" button) on your own, and then react to the Bastau performance.
