Hey Everyone! Angel here. Claudia is in France, so I edited this one myself- I am CLEARLY not as great an editor as her, so thanks for your patience if this video is a little different that others! I am REALLY excited to be into the Bastau performances as Dimash is clearly on a whole new level of comfort and flexibility. This piece was great to me for a lot of reasons, but most especially those 2 runs towards the end- I tried to mimic them, but they were a little to fast and sophisticated for me to pick up on the very first try- I definitely went back and listened again at the piano so I could pick it apart! Such a cool song!!!
We're getting so close to 10,000! Please remember to like and subscribe!

The story behind Daybreak adds to the experience. The song writer wrote the song about real life events...a cable car accident in China some years ago. Parents held their infant up to be rescued as they died from their injuries. The song is from child's perspective. That child was later adopted by the songwriter.

And Dimash invited the songwriter, Han Hong and the adopted boy, to his performance in the Singer 2017 competition. But because of his illness (which even prevented him from speaking) Dimash's performance was not what he wished it to be.

You should really check out the lyrics to this song it's based on a true story a really sad story about parents that died saving their child from the child's prospective and the lady that wrote this song actually adopted the orphan. It's such a beautiful story and the emotion that Dimash puts into this song is phenomenal.

In 1999 in a chinese town there was a horrific cablecar-accident. 14 people lost their lives. The rescueacctions took several hours through the night until DAYBREAK under very hard circumstanses. One couple managed to rescue their baby boy and lift him to safety before they themselves fell to their death. A famous singer/songwriter wrote this song as a tribute to the heroic parents who made the ultimate sacrifice. Loosing their own lives out of their love for their child. Dimash heard this song and learned about the events leading up to the making of the song when he was about 10 years old. It hit him so hard that his whole body wad trembeling he has sad in interview. So this song is very close to Dimashes heart. And you can really feel his sadness and passione whenever he performes this song.. The singer/songwriter ended up adopting the boy! Love and peace from Dear in Sweden 💙🙏💙🙏

This song always manages to make me teary. He's relaxed and comfortable, because this is his own audience; obviously a competition is not the same. He said it recently in an interview, that he feels totally free and at home on stage, because he trusts his audience, and knows that his audience trusts him; so for him it's like being at home between relatives and friends. Loved your analysis, Angel. Thank you!

I am in love with his tenor too!! I mean, of course I'm impressed so much by him because of his overall "package" as a vocalist, but indeed, I believe his tenor register is among the best I've listened to and is my favorite part of his "arsenal". Something a lot of people (even professionals) often neglect, as they are all used to waiting for his soprano register or high mixed belting to come forward that they really don't pay attention to his tenor register. In SOS, right after the final climax, he "settles" down to a tenor B4. A freakin' B4!!! That's the Nessun Dorma climax, and it's where he settled down!! His C5 and D5 are just SO good! He is phenomenal!! Thank you for another great analysis!

@@NarynbekGilman Exactly, I'm talking about his quality when he chooses to sing lyrically in the tenor range. His voice sounds really gorgeous there. I agree of course, Dimash is mainly a pop singer, but at the same time I think he is an innovator in singing. If only more pop singers could bring half of the quality that he brings, contemporary pop would be in a lot better place than it is now.

He was a very sick puppy in the singer version, he had 5 throat treatments and several traditional remedies to try the get his voice back, he pulled it off but his high notes were absent and he said that when he was singing his throat felt like broken glass was in his throat, he was in serious pain. For that condition he was amazing, but this version is what it was supposed to sound more like had his throat not been infected.

Thank you for the elaborate analysis of Daybreak! For me his performance is as beautiful vocally as it is moving. It brings out the emotions of this harrowing song in such a way that you live through the tragedy of the child and revere the love and sacrifice of the parents. I have found for myself that even if I admire the beauty and virtuosity of Dimash's songs and performances, I fully appreciate what he achieves, when I listen and read the lyrics and the backstories. He builds his whole performance on the lyrics imho. And unlike quite a lot of popular songs, the lyrics of his songs are worth reading on their own - they are thoughtful and beautiful poetry.

He does have songs where he stays in his tenor register because even Dimash can't do an entire concert of super difficult performances. He has to have a few where he can vocally relax a little bit. These simpler performances are not the ones most requested by the fans. Nothing comes to mind of an interesting one from 2017 but I can think of several from 2018 and more recent.

Actually, the song should invoke feelings of sadness, because it is a very sad song, indeed. Daybreak is about a very real and tragic event. It is the story of a cable car accident back in October 1999. A major cable car crash occurred in Malinghe Canyon Scenic Area, Guizhou, a National park in Qianxinan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, China. It killed 14 and injured 22 people. At the moment of the fall, a young couple managed to lift up their two-and-a-half-year-old son to safety. The kid survived, while his parents both died. The song is written from the perspective of the boy who lost his parents. The song was written and sung for the first time by Han Hong, one of the greatest Chinese singers and songwriters. Deeply touched by this story, Han Hong actually adopted and raised the boy as her own. You should check out his 2017 performance on "The Singer." He didn't really speak Chinese at the time and memorized the song phonetically. Because it is a very well-known song in China based on a true event, he was really worried about not doing the song justice in front of a Chinese audience. The audience was nonetheless very impressed and got very emotional about his performance. It is well worth checking out.

Dimash will have vocal coaches whom he depends on for critical feedback, advice on any problems he encounters, and on-going development. He knows he is a work in progress, he wants to learn all the time, and he wants his voice to stay in good shape as he ages. He does not want people who just say wow, amazing, you're a gift from God, or an alien, or whatever, because that doesn't help him. Angel is an expert practitioner and coach, and it is interesting to hear about the things that she hears and sees. The voice is a fantastically delicate apparatus and controlling it is hard. Dimash is human, there's no such thing as perfect, and nothing stays the same. So it's totally fine fine for her to give her expert opinion on what she sees. She has Dimash's best interests at heart, she's obviously a fan, so there's no need to be defensive if she says something critical. Plenty of channels out there where the reactors say wow and move on. This is a different sort of channel.

In Dimash’s case it was even confirmed. A popular Turkish vocal coach, Emre Yücelen, once analysed Dimash and said he must have longer vocal folds than usual.. he, then, once visited Dimash in Kazakhstan and directly asked him if he had longer vocal folds and Dimash said yes. Here’s also an American voice teacher, Mary Zimmer, talking about Dimash, his range and the anatomy his vocal folds must have: Phenomenal singer btw. He’s not only about range, his skill level is immensely high, he has such a precise technique, is amazingly versatile (he sings in several different genres and uses styles and techniques of pretty much all genres), and he still does a great job in conveying emotion in his performances. Many vocal pedagogues call him best singer in the world. His range is not his most important feature, but of course it’s a nice plus. n Dimash’s case it was even confirmed. A popular Turkish vocal coach, Emre Yücelen, once analysed Dimash and said he must have longer vocal folds than usual.. he, then, once visited Dimash in Kazakhstan and directly asked him if he had longer vocal folds and Dimash said yes. Vocal range and style His sung range expands 6 octaves and 2 semitones, from C2 to C6 to F♯6 and, finally, D8. However his known range was a little more than 6 octaves, it’s now almost 7.

The true story is heart wrenching, and YOU MISSED THE POINT During an interview Dimash said when he first learned of the backstory to this song it left him shaking. He prefers performing songs that have a deeper meaning. I think that most of us prefer to listen to Dimash in this sad, emotional repertoire that moves us to the depths of hearts His voice and this how he interprets songs, how he communicates emotions In 1999, in the south-west China, there was a tragic accident A cable car jumped up and fell from a height, there were people inside Some of them died, some survived with injuries There was also a young couple with their 2.5 year old son who, in the face of this tragedy, kept the child up high to cushion this fall And they succeeded, the boy survived Unfortunately they both died in this accident Hong Han was shocked by the story And she was so overwhelmed that she adopt the boy after a while. He wrote the song two years later and she tells the story of this day from the boy's perspective. it was a beautiful day. And Dimash must somehow face these emotions Dimash unfortunately fell ill and it was an inflammation of the throat I think or maybe something like what happened recently and trust me, So I think there is nothing worse for a singer before the show rather than infection of the vocal cords While this is a concert - you can postpone it but here is the competition, live, so there is no such option so the atmosphere was nervous of course, they tried to heal Dimash and save him from oppression just before the performance, one of the participants gave him a mysterious vial of liquid I do not know what it was - maybe some Chinese mixture? but it probably helped ;-) I'm sure many of you have heard this performance from the Bastau concert from Dimash's solo concert which was a few months later in Kazakhstan and the fact is that performance is better than this (imho) First - he sang a little differently, i like more version from Bastau and maybe actually during the program he did not feel comfortable because of illness, so next performance is better because he was healthyI couldn't speak I've tried several times to record Daididau reaction I started, I said two sentences, and unfortunately my voice broke it's just that we're trying to get some sound, but we have absolutely no control over it voice "fly" in a completely different direction and brings us a different sound than we would like to get So I think there is nothing wo

I’ve heard non-classical vocal coaches call it baritone, but whenever opera singers react they say it sounds like a tenor voice to them

It's tenor but the original is baritone, Dimitri Hvorotovsky sang Ulysses with Sumi Jo in true baritone... Just find that version and the comparison is obvious

I remember a few years back when I listened to Daybreak the first time I shed tears. I didn't understand what the song was about. Then later I found out back in The Singer he sang this song while having severe throat infection I was in awe. Dimash : *couldn't speak a word, got some shots on the neck, sang beautifully then nothing after. I can't get over the story.

My first of your reactions to Dimash. I like how you're explaining his technique and how you explain too, how a student of singing could practice if they would like to learn similar techniques. What I'm saying is...I can see that you are an educator. That this "reaction business" is for you, not all about likes & subscriptions, that you want more substance...a better use of your time, than all the Ohhs & Ahhs others are putting out there in an attempt to jump on Dimash's train & build up their own channel. You teach us, we learn from you and I appreciate it. I'm sure you've gotten the usual shit of "you pause too much, you talk too much" blah blah blah. Most of us Dears, or at least me, are reaction video addicts. Literally. There's some dopamine, oxytocin hormonal release (or whatever) that gives me/us a rush. Good feelings, big smiles and the "oh yeah sucker, you ain't heard nothing yet and the Uh huh we weren't lying 'bout him being the best" attitude we bring to the 1st. time hearing Dimash sing, videos genre. And that's good fun, but to actually learn something new, takes it to a new level. So you keep being you and I'll go watch your other videos. P.S. before I saw Dimash on Sam Johnson's vocal coaching channel years ago, I really knew very little about the act of singing. I've learned so much. I occasionally get a wild hair & think about getting a vocal coach, because as I sing along with Dimash, in whatever language he's singing in, I find I can hit those low lows & some of the high highs. I was labeled an alto in 8th grade choir. ❤take care Krista in Colorado

I don't know how much you know about the song Daybreak, Dawn, Sunrise a few names it's been called but Han Hong wrote and sang it. If you haven't heard her version, please at least listen to it!! You know the Chinese competition he was in, well youngsters had their own called "LET'S SING KIDS" Malaysian girl 11 rears old won the contest. Her name is ("Tang Jingjin") it says Day Breaks and has Eng. Sub. She after 8 or 9 songs she won the contest. My favorite placed second. Her name is "Qiu Shihan", she was 10, she is now 15. She sang a song Called I Want A Home!!! Put in Qiu Shihan. If you see a white collar with a black choker that's it. Then you'll see When you say nothing at all, a couple years later, complete difference in looks but many believe she is the future of Chinese music. Another is (Shi Jiaxi) song "Free as the Wind'. 10 years old very husky voice. Love to see her at about 18 singing!! Tang Jingjin just disappeared back into Malaysia. I can't find anything on her today. She's 16 by now. Qiu Shihan is 15 now and there is a sing trail on her. If you do watch "I want a Home'. There is a little boy playing the violin just to her right rear playing. One more thing, Tang did "THENIGHT OF ULAANBAATAR" Probably the best version is by Tan Weiwei. When Tang sings Day Breaks that's Tan Wei Wei also called Sitar Tan in the horizontal strips!! Funny Tan Weiwei is not present. Not react please in spare (HAHA) time, watch. Angel I watch your Reenactments because I can get technical knowledge!!

he seems more comfortable in bastau performances because while filming the singer Dimash was sick most part of the show, even this song you just reacted, the doctor said no highnotes, but dimash did an amazing performance anyways, you should check the singer version and you will notice the difference is huge. great reaction i really enjoyed it
