What's really amazing is how impeccable her English is as her second language. That was a contest she was singing in with singers singing classic songs. In the speaking part her voice almost broke and you hear she cried in acapella! "I have nothing" she sang better and higher than Whitney ! Arirang Alone in Immortal Songs 2 is absolutely a once in a lifetime performance from a genius, beautiful artist in So Hyang. Her and Dimash are my top two favorite vocalists.

Sohyang doesn't sing for fame, fortune, money, attention or a record deal, she sings for a higher purpose. If you come across the kpop version of Raise Me Up, she actually had pneumonia during that performance. She's one of my favorite new singers who I've discovered for myself from different parts of the world this year.

@@maggiereneemusic I like every video you have done. The only place I have seen captions for "Everyone" is on vimeo. Having the words for the Korean parts makes the song so much more powerful. PLEASE, for your sake & ours, continue to explore so hyang's talents. she doesn't have a bad performance so explore away! (although a lot of her videos get CW claimed/blocked from viewing here in the US), so look to the comments for links to her performances uploaded to vimeo or another route in order to not ruin all the hard work that goes into one of yr reaction/analysis videos. seriously, i think so hyang is the female equivalent of dimash, & many others will agree here... in terms of technicality, engagement with the audience, & sheer dedication to their craft. i am dreaming of a day where the two of them perform a duet, although it'd likely do me in, haha. *some noteworthy performances, in no particular order* you raise me up & lean on me (immortal songs 2 versions) o holy night (the right time of year to enjoy... the singer version) & this year she's done a wonderful rendition of amazing grace that doesn't seem to be getting blocked left & right. lastly, her whitney houston covers are beyond anything i have ever heard prior. *PLEASE* check out i have nothing (DMC festival 2015) & very recently, a stunning rendition of i will always love you (begin again korea concert), which you can find versions of that i've seen many others use with no issues. srry for all that, but i'm equally excited to see someone else just loving the absolute everything outta so hyang. you'll get lots of recommendations, but i hope you'll consider the ones i've mentioned. thanks for appreciating so hyang along with us, maggie! ♥️

Its undeniable she hs such a phenomenal voice n singing techniques. But wht amazes me evn more abt So Hyang is her versatility in handling different genres of songs equally adeptly n beautifully. For example, she sings d classic song Misty ( under Beginagain series ) n u get goosebumps n drawn into d sentimental mood. She is jus gifted wth such a sweet, clear n endearing voice. She is my favourite singer because of her strong beliefs and will to comfort and bring joy to others (also she has amazing vocal technique; dare I say maybe one of the best in the world atm). OK, I got to the party too late, but I just listened to the video and watched it. 😳 At first I thought she was maybe going to stay in the upper register and in her very soft and extremely well controlled head voice which is truly very difficult, as you said to control when she’s singing at that pitch and in that range, and she was singing so softly but staying perfectly on pitch and putting such feeling into it. I kind of thought maybe she would transition from that into a much more powerful voice and sure enough, that’s where the Maria Carey came out, and she did have a very powerful and very flexible voice with very good range in (C5-F6 I think, range, without playing it back) and then towards the end it transitioned to more of a “gospel like” arrangement and style of delivery. She’s obviously got a lot of flexibility in different styles and ways that she can sing. Very nice commentary from you, Maggie, in explaining those difficult parts and how impressively she was doing them. Very impressive performance by her as well of course. Brava to you both! ❤️🎵😊👍🎶. Oh, and 🌉

I love when you sing to show an example of something, a lot of these "vocal coach" reactors I'm not even sure if they have the talent to sing, but you are always so knowledgeable and show what you can do its great! I appreciate the fact that you made note of the use of straight voice instead of vibrato. As a guitarist I can say that to many of us over use it and it reduces the impact of it when used only when needed. Always love your reactions and very glad you stumbled across So Hyang. She's so beautiful inside and out. Arirang Alone in Immortal Songs 2 is a must see. This woman is beyond amazing, considering she's 43 years old and has very limited vocal training, which she only got towards the latter part of her life, if I remember correctly. Going from singing for her church, to singing to bring happiness to anyone she can, with no plans to be a renowned singer is such a wonderful thing for her to do. People say she's overrated, but I'm certain they can't improve on any performance she's done themselves :)
