WoW that is an excellent insert. I love the fan controls. Do you have the heat vented to your other rooms or just your sitting room? Ours is just the open sitting, dining and kitchen area. If we have freezing temps, which isn’t very often in Texas, it’s nice to have a fire.

It's not vented, just open space. We do open door to up stairs. We close all the doors upstairs except our room and bath. The heat pours up the stairs and warms it up pretty quick.

Great vid! I have the same stove. I usually keep the door open a crack to get the fire started. I was under the impression the top baffle tubes burn the gases produced by the fire which they call secondary burn. I believe the air intake is down below where the grate/fan controls are. The stove comes with a metal cover to block the intake hole if using an outside air kit which connects to the inlet in the back of the stove that also has a removable plate/cover. The manual for this stove is horrendous. Not sure how you clean your chimney liner but I purchased the Sooteater off Amazon which allows it to be swept from inside the stove.

Agreed the manual is awful. The guys who installed it were installers and not really sure how the stove works. I had to do my own experiments and research. I don't clean my liner. I hire it out. Seems like they do a pretty good job. They had explained that the smoothness of the liner makes it super easy to clean. They only charge like $100 bucks. Thanks for the comments and for watching. If I were to make any changes to the stove, I'd make the thermostat that kicks the fan on, come on sooner. I guess a person could replace it with a lower temp switch.

@@RgreenacresI hear ya about the fan kicking on sooner. I questioned it too but was told the snap disk is set at the temp it is because the fan technically cools the firebox and you want the fire roaring hot and going good before the fan kicks on. My biggest issue is the ACC control, even after the 20-25 min it’s supposed to close it still allows air to come in because I can see the hot spot glowing hot on the log on the bottom middle where that intake is inside the box. Definitely causes my wood to burn faster even on the lowest intake lever setting. And my glass never stays as clean as yours.

@@rickg.5144 Ha! Same with the hot spot on the logs. I thought my door seal was leaking at first. I wish I could just close everything to the point where the fire almost goes out. I would then have full control of the burn rate. I think about this whenever my back hurts from hauling wood! 🤪

That's a really nice insert and it was great to see how it works. I have a fireplace and would like to get an insert so it was especially nice to see your demonstration. Will your insert keep a fire going all night if you load it up before bedtime? You don't need to start a new fire in the morning, do you? I don't imagine you do, as you have such a nice large firebox. My fireplace is quite small, the "box" is about half the size of yours so I would need something pretty efficient to keep a fire going through the night. I am located in eastern Kansas and we have a similar forecast to yours for the next week or so. Stay snug!

Thanks . Yes, we throw a few logs on before bed, turn down the damper. In the morning, I just need to stir it up and throw some small pieces on and usually starts right up.

Installed one of these heaters 3 years ago Main points Looks great. Only good point In real operation Almost impossible to light without leaving the door open and smoking the house out Unable to vary the amount of heat it puts out , again due to poor air glow design Will not burn all night due to poor air flow control , noisy fan Auto vent never worked form day one Uses very little wood , but puts out very little heat Biggest waste of money ever
