Well thanks buddy, I was getting frustrated because I just formatted and installed win 10 on the harddrive on another laptop and when I put it in the sony ,it was saying that there’s not an operating system and it was this easy.Thank you brother ❤️

Turn the power on, and press F2 or F12 key to take you into the BIOS. Press right arrow to highlight "Boot" in menu. Select the DVD/RW drive, following the instructions in the side panel, and move it to position (1) as the preferred drive to boot from. Save and Exit. Put Windows installation disc in drive, turn off laptop, then turn it on. It should now reboot from your DVD/RW drive. Select "repair" NOT "install" option. If that does not work, try the other options available on the list.

maybe your hard drive is a little loose. you just have to unplug and re-plug your hard drive.

Jon Sab Thanks buddy. You are correct. And yeah one more thing, my laptop restart by itself while pressing the touch pad while the screen is lock. What is the wrong? Is it because of battery problem? Should i get a new battery? Need help.

unplug your battery and use a power cable instead and see if the issue is still there. Then do system restore if you're getting same problem.

POSSIBLE FIX: I've bought a new disk (ssd) and when I wanted to install OS I always got "OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND". After that, I've googled tons of "press F(sth)+blahblah" tutorials and nothing worked for me. What DID WORK in the end was - making an USB bootable drive (using Windows USB DVD Download tool), then booting the machine using the ASSIST button -> BIOS -> then changed the Legacy boot to UEFI, went to the other tab and disabled Secure boot (which was previously grayed out) -> then switched back to Legacy boot. You also need to change the boot priority/sequence. but that was it for me - works perfectly now. BTW my model num. is SVE1512e1ew. Good luck to all

i have a sony vaio laptop cw series icore5 windows 10 (upgraded from w7 to w10 2 years ago). bought it march of 2010. yesterday i encountered "Operating system not found". this is the 3rd time i encountered this "phenomena" and each time all i did to correct the problem was UNPLUG THE POWER CORD FROM THE WALL OUTLET THEN REMOVE THE BATTERY. WAIT FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN PLACE BACK THE BATTERY THEN PLUG THE CORD TO THE WALL OUTLET THEN TURN ON THE LAPTOP LIKE I NORMALLY DID. THEN IT SAYS PRESS ANY KEY TO SKIP SCANNING .DURING MY FIRST EXPERIENCE, I TRIED TO NOT PRESS ANY KEY BUT THE SCANNING TOOK TOO LONG TO FINISH, ABOUT 5 HOURS, SO DURING MY 2ND EXPERIENCE I PREFER TO SKIP THE SCANNING AND ONCE INSIDE THE WINDOW I DID chkdsk /f. the scanning took only a few minutes where it says it fixed the problem. by the way, using "/F" only takes minutes and using "/R" takes hours..
