wish we Had you Guys in our Area Nottingham all we get from the EA after Reporting illegal fishing is a Report number and call from police

I was a canal bailiff for my local angling club and used to sell canal day tickets or check that anglers had on them the latest clubs membership book. I caught so many "Illegal" anglers who had put caught fish (Still alive) in plastic carrier bags to take the fish home with them and guess what. Not ONE of these thieiving and illegal anglers even had a valid rod license. It's a complete waste of time ringing the NON emergency Police number to report what was needed. Was always fobbed off with "Oh we'll try and get someone along shortly" and given a Police reference number to hand into the angling club. British Police. please, please, please STOP going in heavy handed, looking all aggressive and menercing if you see young children with their brothers or their dads (who may have forgotten his rod license or forgot to buy it that morning) because it really does make the Police look nothing more than complete THUGS and i've seen young children crying their eyes out when the Police are in as i'll put it like this "Full On Questioning Mode". STOP It !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DON'T destroy any seized rods,reels or fishing poles Please. Donate them to an angling club for the young and new anglers to use as they learn. This would be a far better way of "Recycling" fishing gear and equipment, surely.

whilst i generally support the Angling Trust not sure i like to see heavy handed tactics for people fishing in the closed season, which after all is a questionable period and not even applicable on some waters Id sooner have teenagers so called "illegally" fishing than getting up to mischief elsewhere. Especially considering the covid years weve had. By all means go after poachers threatening fish stocks.5 big body armoured guys turning up to say a dad and his young lad fishing....... How productive was this multi agency patrol ?

harassing kids fishing out of season and motorists doing a few miles over the speed limit. why don't they tackle real crime?
