Operation Market-Garden - 80th Anniversary Wargame Announcement

We’re announcing a LIVE STREAM wargame commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Operation Market Garden, which started on 17 September 1944. Our live stream will be broadcast at 2PM East US time / 7PM UK time on Sunday, 22 September.
The system we’ll be using is Avalon Hill’s classic Panzer Leader, and the scenario will recreate part of the Battle of Nijmegen, fought by the British Grenadier Guards and American 82nd Airborne Divisions against German Waffen SS and rear area security units.
Historically, the Allies suffered some critical delays here against determined German resistance. Some say this was the fulcrum upon which the success or failure of Market-Garden was ultimately decided. Will the American paratroopers and British tankers effect the crucial breakthrough?

Another great scenario and this looks like a lot of fun. I have always loved Panzer Leader and we played it endlessly. I picked up Panzer and a couple of it's expansions. I haven't broken into that yet. Have you seen it?

Been playing PanzerBlitz since 1984, Panzer Leader and The Arab-Israeli Wars since 1987. I've seen the box art for "Panzer" but I haven't tried it.

Poor published PL in 1974. They had you crossing the Waal with a valentine bridgelayer..... They just wanted to have it used in one scenario...

Hey, they did their best at the time. To do it right, you'd need a custom map with the Waal River being at least one hex wide, and special rules for the assault boats. Maybe that Valentine platoon was their way of "abstracting" the collapsible boats? I dunno, it's not even close.

Are we getting Part 2? Three points: 1) Sudan was not a British colony. It was a Condominion with Egypt and so came under the Foreign Office, not the Colonial Office. It paid no money to London and got none back. Technically it wasn't even in the war until the Italians attacked it and into Egypt in June 1940. 2) All accounts seem to miss out the presence of the Sudanese Composite Battalion. 3) The British armour was largely disabled by Italian minefields, which are not mentioned here.
