As previously announced, the creative team have begun ideation on the Operation: Recall Year One figures.
I wanted to quickly share a bunch of SHHHH ideation sketches that Mark just shared with me. I love getting to see the process, and I thought you might too.
Ideation is the stage where, in Mark’s words, you “just try anything and you always find elements you like.”
There are many elements from each of these drawings I love. Each exploration bears fruit.
The next step after ideation is to review with Kirk Bozigian to decide which elements to keep, and then Mark will move into tighter drawings of the revised design.
We have many months of great times ahead, watching each of these characters evolve.

Holy shit Mark is a champ. Love the leg and other cybernetics! Love the designs and his mind at work!

Personally I really like the prosthetic leg to be obvious for two reasons: 1) to make that connection with vets/civilians who have one IRL, and 2) because it definitely shows more character and creative design than the standard "this action figure has a robot leg which is basically a regular molded leg we just painted differently". Let SHHHH stand proud...and perhaps be underestimated by his soon-to-be-sorry enemies!

Right? He's cranking these out at high speed with beautifully loose gestural markings! The most impressive part to me is his mastery of quick ideation, for a man who's made his career as a highly detail oriented inker that's even more impressive.

I really like the idea of the grappling hook accessory. I also think a metallic mask of some sort will go well with the cybernetic leg.

Speaking as a fan introduced to A Real American Hero from day one in 1982, I've always viewed Snake-Eyes version 3 as my favorite depiction of the character. Hearing Mark Pennington wasn't 100% happy with that costume made me wonder if Shhh's outfit could really surpass it. I really like the braided ponytail shown at 0:13 and I especially love the face being half black and half white. I feel that's a nice nod towards Alexander's concept incorporating both Snake-Eyes & Storm Shadow. I definitely prefer the prosthetic leg to look lean. I think he looks scarier with a slender appendage changing his silhouette. If Shhh can be sculpted with sharp toes, a few wires, and circular plates surrounding his knee, I'll be tremendously impressed.

I'd go easy on the prosthetic leg personally, less is more, etc. My .02.

Which designs do you feel go easiest?

@@3djoes they're all good, but the thin and skinny robotic legs seem a little too obvious, and might not hold up to stress tests and rigorous play, potentially too. I prefer subtly more, personally- hints at the robotic functionality. But I'm sure whatever the team comes up with will be great.

He is a ninja, so that makes sense. He’ll likely be almost completely black though, so he won’t have those neon Ninja Force vibes.
