Just know it came hard to me, everything you are feeling, I was there. First off you are not in a race against others, you can learn math, just give yourself time. Keep practicing and try to avoid memorizing meaningless rules but understand the simplest of operations will continue expand

I know how that is. My algebra tutor told me to start doing math vocabulary notebook and that turned out to be a huge help! I found that a lot of the reason I get lost in math is because I didn't really know the terminology. Teacher would say a word like "numerator" or "multiplicand" and I would get hung up on what the word meant instead of following the lecture. Then I get home and try to work but I would get stuck, and be like, "Wait. which one is the numerator?"

King! Try to learn to love math. Try to find the beauty. Think of each question as a puzzle. I was in the same place as you in grade school. I was a year ahead and just couldn't grasp the topics, or I would get them, but I'd end up mixing up signs, and/or numbers every question. It lead to a lot of self loathing and depression. But once I got to collage I figured out that I had to fall in love with math. After all, I'll probably be doing it for the next 8-12 years. And even more math in my career. So I had no choice. You may not have anything planned after high school, but you should still try to adopt this mindset. It might make the load easier on your mental state, it certainly has for me. It's definitely not easy especially if you barely have the motivation to get out of bed in the morning. But I recommend you start with some simple math to train your mind to think mathematically. Not a lot to start with so you don't burn yourself out. Even only 10-15 min to start off is fine. Hell, I started off with like 5 min. Think about how good it feels to finally grasp a concept that you've been struggling on. Math is the language we've constructed to describe the universe. Learn it, love it, become fluent in it, and an entire universe will open up to you that you never knew was there before. despite how boring individual parts of math are (which I admit, they are kinda boring) math as a whole beautiful *keep in mind everyone is different. What worked for me may not work for you. I'm just trying to share my perspective.* [did I go too far with that?? I think I did... I had too much fun writing this and got carried away... srry ;-;]

What's a "g(x)=" and where'd that come from?

g is the name of the function the () is what goes where the x usually goes. examples: f(x)=3x+4 g(x)=8x-5 h(x)=7x^3-3x^2+3x-4 if you were to place something in the () (lets say (3x+5)) you'd replace all the x's with it and then simplify it ie: f(3x+5). We know f(x) is 3x+4 so we just replace the x with what's in the parenthesis f(3x+5)=3(3x+5)+4 distribute the 3 f(3x+5)=9x+15+4 combine like terms f(3x+5)=9x+19
