Its amazing how realistic the firefights appear to be. Not visually, not in how the player models move, but just how it plays out. The chaotic nature of it, the people communicating to attempt to get an idea of what is going on, the attempts to coordinate. It’s wild. @@mudzbe8414 yeah after a good amount of hours in modded arma units you just don't even care anymore for all that its just apart of its charm at this point lmao (everything you said is VERY valid) Arma has been showing its age (2013) having played it since 2021 for around 1800 hours alll of those things you mentioned aren't problems anymore because of mods and just being so used to the game and how it plays, behaves etc. It becomes about the community and arma is now just an addiction Reforger is a new chapter i'm also very excited about, just waiting for the Optre modding scene to develop for that game which could take a hot minute.

ARMA 3 started showing it's age years ago. while Reforger is barebones, it already has many improvements over ARMA 3. if you want a good milsim game that at least has proper exposure when going in and out of buildings, Reforger is your best bet at the moment.

I would really like to see you play more of the vanilla servers. The extra level of thought required when using less advanced technology has always made for a more fun and challenging experience I've found. Would be amazing to see some milsim between 1980's US and Soviet troops.

My honest opinion is that there is just as much thinking required with modern tech, the distances are just longer. In fact with the increased engagement distances and lethality involved, I would argue that to truly be very successful as a unit. There is more thinking involved. However I do understand your point. The Cold War setting creates an even playing field where superior tactics and strategy are massively rewarded. The Modern setting makes it easier for everyone, while making it a lot harder for those assuming officers roles within the team.

@@beltempest4448 Things like ranging enemies using binoculars, navigating the map just based on reference points and your good planning, having to range your iron sights to hit shots at distance, all add up to give a really fun and "thoughtful" experience. I agree the modern setting makes it much easier for players to get straight into PvP, and a more modern level of technology significantly changes what a single player can do on the field. Older tech is a nice change of pace and one I've found carries with it challenges that require a heightened level of teamwork to overcome. Both are fun! Something I think that was a great addition to the game that I think the playerbase is still adapting to is supply costs for respawning. Modern servers, with all their doohickeys, really put a strain on the logistics system in the game. Good luck finding a Darkgru server that has FOBs with enough supplies to spawn at. In the Cold War scenarios, I feel like people will focus much more on the "essentials", even with the new addition of camouflage uniforms. (The bane of my existence in this game is all the people who just play dress up in spawn and suck out supplies)

EDIT: 3:15 I seen this quite a few times in your Arma videos at this point, but it never fails to impress me! I'm a Star Citizen player and we literally just got birds added to the game. I can't wait till we can actually detect player movement based off their behaviour like this; so simple but so cool.
