Does this have a strong black metal vibe or is it just me?

Babe wake up new jack manges opeth cover just dropped btw, have you ever thought of using Moises to isolate the drum track? The drums sound amazing here (actually everything does), but it could be also an alternative.

Thanks! I suppose something like that could work, but I still like doing the drums myself if I can. It's good practice for when I'm doing my own music, for one, and despite my amateur engineering capabilities, I'm frankly not convinced that chopping up parts from the original track would lead to a better result.

@@VignetteQ Oh, true. Having a little private studio with some drums would be the best tho, record them yourself. I can only dream lmao Anyways, it stills sound really good, love your work

If you upload this to Spotify, I could be in the top 0.5% of your listeners, just like with Opeth every year. Excellent cover!

Good take, do you tempo map? If so, how you do it? Cheers!
@VignetteQ9 ай бұрын
Not sure exactly what you mean by tempo map, but I basically just line the first downbeat I can discern from the original track and try to match the tempo/time signature until I feel I've got it, then go as far as when things start to get out of sync, try to discern whether there was a BPM change and where, etc... it's basically just a trial and error process that can be pretty arduous, and I almost definitely am off the mark sometimes. I'm sure there's a better way to do it but it seems to have worked okay thus far!

the playing and the tone is just spot on, good job my man :), I know from experience how hard it can be to play their songs perfectly and to achieve their tone.

Incredible cover man, honestly think it sounds even better than the original! Would be cool of you did a cover of When or Karma next.

The outro riff sounds just like the album! I know this is 3 months ago but do you still remember what each guitar is doing in that riff? I would love to know

It never seizes to amaze me how close to the original you get. Also did you use ezdrummer? Or is this you for real on the drums? It sounds so life like. Also if you see this, do you use a plugin or are these real amps? Because damn it sounds damn close to the peavy 5150 alkefeldt used in April ethereal

Thanks! I use GGD drum libraries + Archtype Nolly/Abasi, primarily.
