Will the children cry
When their mother dies
And in the autumn of their lives
Will they feel the same
//Uoy ees I
//Natas teews ym
//Thginot kcab emoc
//Draytruoc eht no tuo
//(Out on the courtyard
//come back tonight
//my sweet satan
//I see you)
Her longing for me coming down like hail
Why did you leave me
Come here inside and tell me how
How in my final days
I'd find the rhyme
The light comes on
The signal for us to act out our lives
You wait beneath the white sheets and you wait forever
The light comes on
Your weakness
Storing trace on your arms
So I left you alone
We all left you alone
//yhw nosaer ruoy regnol on re'yehT
//(They're no longer your reason why)
Lock the children away from harm
They're no longer your reason why
Seeking tenderness with a dagger
Skin is marked by the years of trials
You felt abandoned in a flock of friends
Singing praise for the dead
Awaited the face of the moon to ascend
And followed the sound in your head

Watershed is, in my opinion, a great album. It was the last album before they went in their new direction without the growled vocals. It was like a bridge between their death metal years and their prog rock years. But as always, the song composition, the genius of the music was pure Opeth.

That is why they called it watershed I think.

They still make fantastic music tho.. Can agree that i like the prog death era their best, but i love the prog rock years they have had as well! They don’t have an album that is close to weak!

This song is a total masterpiece, so glad you did it. That section from 8:20-9:20 is one of my favourite sections from the whole of Opeth's discography, never gets old! I suggest the instrumental song Stream of Consciousness by Dream Theater for next Saturday :)

Wow! What an atmosphere. One of the nicest prog songs you reacted to imo. Some other prog masterpieces Dream theatre: Peruvian skies. Persefone: Inner fullness. Peter Frampton: Do you feel like we do? (Midnight special 1975). That's a piece of prog rock avant la lettre.

Way to go, Ruben! Opeth at it's best! Somewhere on the way a suggestion rose to my mind. Check out Frost*. Here's a brilliant instrumental, opening song of their first album Milliontown: Hyperventilate - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZ2YamWpltCgkLc Or another good song from the same album: Black Light Machine - kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppbSm2ijidykoM0 ...or a song from their latest album Falling Satellites: Heartstrings - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZXFgn9-obaDY5o Heartstring -video has a two minute long instruction in the beginning, which I recommend to skip over.

I know you've already listened to Opeth's Deliverance, but i recall you watching a really crappy live version... it's a masterpiece and i think you need to give the studio version a listen... even if just on your own time. Best outro ever

Lucky are the guys who went to the Royal Albert Park concert they did for the 20th Anniversary. 3 hours of Opeth...the whole "Blackwater Park" and then one masterpiece from each album...if it's already magical to watch on the DVD...being there it must have been surreal. Anyway, one of my favorite songs of all times, I don't really know why but it's just mesmerizing to me. Now you need to listen to "Heir Apparent" off the same album, another hellish masterpiece. One of their heaviest songs IMO

When he says it is so funny when all hell breaks loose when you were expecting it - I kind of know what he means. I get that too, uncontrollable smiles, even laughter, but I would describe it as joyful rather than funny. 'Funny' feels disrespectful, although I totally get that he didn't mean it that way!!
