I'm sure it's because they've individually mic'd the two bass drums rather than making him play with a double pedal, but every time I see Lopez playing live shows the double bass bits sound like absolute trash. I also reckon he's using very light beaters.

I was wondering and yapp, I did read all the comments below regarding this issue. so, here´s a summary of what we have learnde so far ;) Since I myself have been AT the very gig in question, Wacken in 2001 (yes, I´m THAT old ;) ), I´m the next one to confirm, that the video must be `slightly` younger than 2001, 2003 would be sufficient. Why is that? 1st. the setlist, as mentioned before, doesn´t match the discography, only if the guys would be friggin´ timettravelers. At least that would explain a lot in regards of musical influences they caught during the last years... 2nd. Since I went for my 1st Opeth show, Mikael always spoke and still speaks english and funy German whenever they play in Germany, not swedish... 3rd, and here comes my girly side to give testimony: Clothes... I have taken pictures back than, on which Mikael is shown wearing a black man´s shirt... not the comfy look he did fancy on this show here. I'd be okay with the 70s prog thing if they could do so convincingly. Unfortunately, Mike seems to go out of his way to write weird melodies that are so off kilter that they just sound bad a lot of the time. Also, the music is quirky for all the wrong reasons since it comes off as sounding like a forced emulation of a previously established sound (70s prog) as opposed to what made 70s prog great because it was blazing new trails back during its own era.

That's not a video...In the videos I've seen, Axe is playing always faster than the actual recorded song and there are some random tempo changes. With Lopez that didn't happen so much.
