The actual tuning for this song is DADFAE which would make it much easier for you to play to, giving you a much clearer arpeggios in the clean part. Cheers.
@soullessSiIence5 жыл бұрын
But it's annoying to tune your guitar like that if you only have one guitar. What I do is that I play this, the Baying of the hounds and Ghost of Perdition whenever I tune the guitar to this just to make use of the tuning.

Are you Mo or Mary? I never understand the mechanics of shared spousal accounts. My brother does it with his wife, but like if I forgot to logout, and my wife found my adult history I'd be dreadfully embarrassed. Either that or she'd crawl into bed with me one night, dressed as ronald mcdonald and introduce me to the joys of "pegging". I'm not sure which is worse.

Opeth are like a classical piece. Everyone plays seperate parts. You hear it a lot throught the Blackwater record. If you have a good enough ear you can actually distinguish the two guitars and learn by ear.

Really nice sound, man. What were the noticeable differences between playing in drop D and DADFAE?
@antonmilko6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, playing in drop D is quite tricky on clean parts, especially open chords (some weird stuff like on 4:39), I used this tuning because most of opeth songs are in original E and when playing live it's quicker to tune just 1 string

Question, I learned to play this song from this video years ago but never could figure out how you played the melody at 1:18 and 2:16(its faint at 2:16 but still audible, its loud and clear at 1:18). You very clearly don't fret any other notes and your right hand appears to just be strumming the full chord, how do you get the melody to ring clearly though that? Is this double tracked and the track with the melody just not the same take that's on video (and if so do you remember how it was played) or am I missing something, because I would love to be able to reproduce that.
@antonmilko Жыл бұрын
No it's not double tracked, try to strum open 1th string, I think there is that note ringing.
@sabero5668 Жыл бұрын
@@antonmilko I played around with the strumming pattern and I think I figured it out, it sounds like its a combination of an upstroke on the 2nd string by itself, followed by one of the other two strings being louder than the other depending on if its and up or down stroke, I haven't got it down yet but I can hear it now and the way you play it adds so much character to a beautiful riff that kind of gets buried on the record
