I was at this concert. Travelled to Lonon from Bristol when I was a student. I walked to the Albert Hall in the afternoon to see what was going on, and when I walked round the bakc, Mikael came out for a cigarette. I actually couldn't believe my luck. I chatted casually to him for about 2 minutes. Got a photo, wished him all the best and then we parted. Great memory.

When I saw Protest the Hero in Guelph, Ontario back in 2014 I got to the venue early and Rody Walker (lead singer) just happened to be out having a smoke. We talked for a bit, took a photo and went our ways. I know exactly how you must have felt lol

My first concert was an Opeth's concert, they've come 2 times to my country, first time I was in V.I.P, right in front of Martin the whole show, when they were playing The Grand Conjuration, in one part of the song when Martin is doing the Slap technique I was the only person in front of the stage pointing him with my hand while doing the ol' devil horns sign, i was moving my arm up and down to point him every beat that he slaps the strings, almost immediately he looked at me with a badass face and made an approval gesture with the head, im blessed since that day...

Oh man. I remember when I first bought this digipak of this album that included the making of DVD. I didn't listen to anything else for 2 or 3 months solid. Everyone in my life was forced to listen to it. Such a good album. And this song and Hours of Wealth especially I played often. But this song especially is just so perfect. It's an example of every single beautiful thing a metal song can be. An epic memorable intro, hooky catchy verses, intricate and talented guitar riffs, soulful drums, subtle keyboards, feelings, emotion, depth, anger, rage. It's the only song that could have a catchy, almost radio rock part, that goes into a black/death metal verse, into an instrumental beauty, into prog metal, into an ending you don't want to stop. It's just perfect. It's my prime example to anyone who doesn't understand what good metal is. 🤟🏻😁 #Opeth #GhostReveries #HarlequinForest

Yah, Opeth should be a household name, but they're way too advanced for the masses. Opeth isn't something you can listen to with one ear. You have to invest time and multiple sittings to just get into an album. But once you get over the threshold, their music just grows and grows. The masses, even the metal masses, don't have the inclination to invest more than two minutes if they're not "fed". Opeth is one of a kind. People have recommended stuff they think I'll like because of Opeth, but it's all garbage compared to them. Must've listened to GR well over 2000 times, I NEVER tire of it. The sign of a truly great band is that the first time you listen to a record is the worst, because you actually have to learn it to truly appreciate it. Same with In Cauda Venenum. It didn't sit right with me the first time. But I'm never giving up on Opeth, so I gave it another go and it opened up. Masterpiece.

And cutted most of their songs because liked the melody mainly the beautiful Mikael's voice. However, while doing my work, started to listen the entire song, and now I can not listen only the soft voices, need to listen everything. I REALLY CAN NOT remember when was the last time I had shivers in my spine and entire skin listening to music. OPETH made it again. Opeth must have their own sound engineer beacuse the balancing between instruments is always on spot and it's awesome.

This is one of Lopez's songs that Axe always nails live. The other one I can think of offhand would be Wreath.

Authentic Heavy Metal. Opeth is the real deal. These guys are the worthy successors of Classic Heavy Metal. We are so fortunate to have them to carry the torch for Black Sabbath Judas Priest, Iron maiden, and Mercyful fate. I can't imagine having no Opeth all these years. Dream theater is a good band and all -but they are not on this level integrity.
