Opeth The Leper Affinity - High School Talent Show Guitar Cover (With Piano)

Here's a video of me indoctrinating the public with some FUCKING METAL at my senior year high school talent show. The backing track is 100% done by me and the piano is played by my good friend, Master Ravioli.

Thanks everyone for all of the positive feedback! This performance was a lot of fun and it would be nice if high school talent shows were a little more of this and a little less of chorus kids singing Hamilton medleys, but it is what it is I suppose. Wow this is awesome. Loved the piano outro at the end, that was spot on. My brain instantly goes into the next track (Bleak) in my head. I graduated high school in 2001 and NO ONE knew who Opeth was except for myself and a handful of other friends. The rest of the masses were listening to Blink 182, Kid Rock, Limp Bizkit (gag) and many other crappy bands. You are lucky to have that great crowd reaction to such a complex song. Legit the winner of the talent show was some chorus fuckboy who sang a generic love song he wrote and played its three accompanying chords on the piano. Two years later and I'm still salty about it.

Thanks dude! Yah it's a Herbert. It's an incredible amp for its low end and thickness, but it doesn't necessarily have the edge to cut through a recorded mix. However: combine it with a brighter less compressed amp (in the studio or live) and you'll get the ultimate guitar sound most likely. If you check out the Gemini Syndrome cover on my channel it was recorded with the Herbert and you'll notice it sounds a little weak imo, not enough mids. So with more recent projects I've recorded through the Herbert and a cheap low gain combo amp at the same time for a little more crunch. Next step on my waste lots of money list is to try to get my hands on a Marshall plexi to mix with this beast

Yea definitely. I don't really consider myself a technical player or even a guitarist per se, so this song was a lot for me to take in. I just didn't want to put the crowd to sleep playing the Bach cello suites lmao

Yah sure. You can't really hear it too well in the video, but parts of backing track are a little sloppy because I was limited with time to put it together and the song is a little beyond my playing level, but it's still usable. PM me your email address and I'll send it your way.
