i've said it numerous times and i'll say it again: mikael is not only a fucking genius songwriter but also very very capable of surrounding himself with great musicians. in all of opeth's 25years of recording history every bloody lineup rips and has it's different aspects which makes this band so bloody unique.

with the announcement of the 30th anniversary mini tour with a fan voted setlist (1 song from each album) this one and black rose immortal will be voted just to get them live and maybe even on a bluray. i'd rather see wreath and to bid you farewell from those two records but since btpisio and bri count 6 plays in total together it will be those two

Its for the moments when he is supposed to frequently hit the china and ride as well (which is very common across Opeth' material) so its pretty logical to keep a right hihat too so you dont have to come all the way through the kit to hit ride and china whenever needed. Sure, drummers can and do that but he finds it better to keep it that way

It's a really great idea....he doesn't always have to do the traditional RH crossover...its right there! Especially when he is either coming off or going to his ride and/or China. Brilliant really!

nah bro, I was there, it was sick. Loads of laughter, heaps of headbanging... don't forget it was at the OPERA house, so we were sitting etc. Mikael said it would be a memorable concert for them just because of the unique experience of playing there. The acoustics were absolutely magnificent, could hear EVERY tomtom Martin A. played, while hearing all the acoustic strings. Loved all of it!
