Orchid is in My Top 3 Favorite Opeth Albums (A Masterpiece). Mikael Akerfeldt was only 19 years old when he wrote and recorded this album. If you read the lyrics along with listening, it really takes you on a journey and the lyrics surround and fit the music so well. Opeth are master's of doing that. Still to this day, Opeth is my favorite band of all time. No other band has affected and changed my perspective on music and life the way Opeth has.

Nice. Very good for being 19. Very devolped that early.

I totally agree with this. Opeth has found some of the most innovative yet beautiful harmonies I've ever heard (The Night and the Silent Water - when the acoustic passage begins. Or the beginning of Demon of the Fall, right before the vocals start... and so many more)

That accoustic part is one of the most chilling music parts I've heard in my life. It's crazy the quantity of good quality riffs mikael comes up with. When I listen to this song, during that part I just close my eyes and get lost in the music. It's just that great. I just recieved my accoustic guitar today and this is the first riff I'll learn to play on it.

“Forest of October” is my favorite song from their debut. Can’t wait for “Faith in Others”!

It's funny even watching opeth fans argue favorite eras, let alone albums or songs, just speaks to a career of releasing great, but constantly changing music.

paravarium I love every Opeth album, and every song is worth listening to. No argument from me

In mist has the most epic ending and should have been the final track. Hope he finally does it now that he's given the album a chance 🤞

I hear a hint of swedish trallpunk as well, though I think Mikael never mentioned it. He might have, I don't know. Maybe it's not there, or it's an element germane to ambitious rockish not yet masterful writing and playing...
